This album earns every minute of its 32-minute runtime and both leaves me wanting more but feels fully complete. It seemingly runs through every era of the band without ever feeling like a retread and pushing those sounds forward. There's a brightness and an energy here, even in the tracks that may be more lyrically downbeat. Travis' drumming and production help bring it out, and you can really hear it in Ryan's impassioned--and impressive!-- vocals, but it's mostly the way the band seems to be fully in sync and firing on all cylinders.
About halfway through my first listen now and enjoying this immensely. I just have to say how incredible it is to have new records, in 2025, in a one month span from Yellowcard, The Starting Line, and Motion City Soundtrack, and to have all three meet or exceed expectations.
Ugh. Earlier, I dropped off my (blue-eyed) daughter at daycare and finished the back half of the record on my way to work. I listened to "Big Blue Eyes" for the first time right before I got the office and had to just sit in my car for a little bit so that I didn't walk by the receptionists with obvious tears welling up in my eyes. So Yellowcard, thank you for that moment.
Your Broke Me Too reminds me so much of Light's & Sounds era. I feel the song could’ve been on the album. It’s so fucking great. I can’t believe it. the riff, the chord progression, the violin, the Melodie’s….so Lights & Sounds.
Seriously. TSOWWW, Eternal Youth, SBTBS and this all being released within mere weeks of each other is insane.
Both my kids have blue eyes so yeah I’m wrecked. Absolutely adore this album, can’t say it enough. How spoiled are we lately?
Love Letters Lost is so good. It has so many elements of so many bands I like but is distinctly Yellowcard. Obviously Travis and Matt give it a touch of blink and Alkaline Trio, but even the main riff reminds me of Strung Out (maybe something like "Black Maps"). All of these songs are so fun though.
“I built this house But it's not home I lost myself when I let you go I'm too young to be this old Terrified I'm gonna die alone I'm gonna die alone” I wish I had the words to express how hard this hits. This album is absolutely phenomenal.
Enjoyed about half of this. Take what you want will probably be a top 5 played song for me this year though.
Definitely my favorite since OA, and may surpass it with a few more spins. I distinctly remember listening to OA on the beach with my discman and it feeling so perfect. For whatever reason, it is a transcendent memory. I’m driving back to the beach right now and would love to replicate with the new album except it’s going to storm all weekend. also bumping this because I’d be fascinated to know
Nostalgia attached to the earlier records aside, this will probably be in contention for my favorite Yellowcard record. This is pretty much excellent front to back, and Travis crushed the production. I love it.
Don't know the specifics here, and not sure they would be disclosed, but sometimes artists will do it for "exposure" or as a favor - I imagine early on when Justin Pierre was appearing on FOB's debut and Patrick was appearing on CTTM, for example, it was most likely this - but more often there is probably an appearance fee and/or royalties, especially as it involves more-established artists. It shouldn't take a bunch of lawyers to get that negotiated, it should be pretty straightforward. EDIT: I think it would also depend on if the appearing artist is just performing or also writing the part that they're performing, in which case there are multiple rights/royalties that might have to be negotiated.
Between the EP and this record, this might be my favorite post breakup/hiatus run of any band in the scene. Travis’s production really helped take this band to another level and this album is nothing, but catchy, anthemic ear worms from front to back. I really hope we get a true headline tour next year to celebrate this amazing piece of work. The band hasn’t been to Portland since they came back and I’d love to see them play this whole thing live.
@williamryankey my only gripe with this is we need some full screen animated artwork on Apple Music lol
3 listens today. Everything on this album feels so intentional and it’s so refreshing to hear. I am so satisfied haha.
First listen I thought it was good. Second listen I realized that there's not as much guitar riffage as I would have liked and I'm not connecting with the lyrics really at all. For me, it's a good comeback album and I'm really keen to hear what's next. Still love Paper Walls, Southern Air, WYTTSY, Lift A Sail ALL ALOT.
I ran through almost the whole discog today while I was studying at the library, honestly my most productive day in a while. damn this band is good huh
Travis killed it on this too. I can hear some OMT era Blink in here (See You) and that is really neat.
