City Of Angels is so cool, an immediate favorite. Kinda feels like it picks up where "In Time" left off. When it was initially announced they were writing new stuff, I was wondering if they'd ever do something this electronic again. A bit reminiscent of "Goodbye Sky Harbor" when the beat kicks in too, which is neat. Love the anthemic, triumphant vibes on Bedroom Posters, that bridge sounds huge. Can see this one go off live.
Album rules! Love Letters Lost is probably my first impression favorite. But gonna need more spins to really get a feel for what resonates the most. Skin Scraped is also up there for me.
First listen done. What an absolute pleasure it was to hear a new Yellowcard album. A perfect album that covers all the bases that made me fall in love with this band. The fact they did it with only 10 songs says a lot of about them as a band and as musicians. Travis Barker drumming on the album is still insane to me. I used to imagine what this band would be like if he was their drummer - the same way I used to imagine what it would’ve been like if Matt Skiba was in blink-182. Both scenarios actually happened haha. And to be honest, on the first listen, I was so wrapped up listening to everything else (lyrics, guitars, violin) that I kept having to remind myself that Travis was drumming. That’s a great sign that this whole idea of a comeback, new album, and tour has been a great success for these guys. They did it and will keep doing it!
Yeah this is *chef's kiss* front to back. Love that they made room for a song like City Of Angels on this.
It’s crazy that the last full length was 2016. I was happy to see the band back for the OA tour and the EP was a nice bonus, wasn’t convinced we’d actually get more but boy am I happy we did! Album is such a great addition to one of the scenes best back catalogue. Almost a year since I saw them debut “Better Days” in Glasgow, last November! Love Letters, Skin Scraped, You Broke Me Too and Barely Alive are favourites we hadn’t heard yet. Not a song I don’t love on here though. Congrats to you and the band @williamryankey
These comments are wild. More positive energy than I’ve ever seen around a release for us. Especially here where it can be a pretty tough crowd haha. Thank you guys. How the hell are we going to choose which songs to play live next year?!
So happy to read all these reactions. woke up a little early today, gonna make coffee and then get the review posted shortly.
You play them all, obviously! 7 hour concert, maybe a lunch/dinner break in between Paper Walls and WYTTSY.
Can't wait to jump into this today. Every song and clip that was released ahead of the album was top tier so I knew this one would be something special.
Hitting play now. Hadn't listened to the singles in a bit and the title track is still so great. Can't wait for the Chicago show in December!
I've been through the first 5 tracks about 3 times this morning and haven't made it further (just how my morning worked out taking the kids to school and such). Got to listen to the first few tracks with my kids in the van still and tell them how much it meant that a band I thought was done (the year my 9 year old was born) is back. I did this instead of doing my usual "first listen ritual" and demanding to be alone with good headphones and unbothered until I've heard it all uninterrupted once through. Sitting down with the AirPod Max now and starting from the beginning again. I adore that this is a 30 minute album. It's going to get a ton of spins for that reason alone. I'm back to Love Letters Lost already as I type up this post. It's SO FUCKING GOOD. I've been spinning Yellowcard since the beginning and can't believe this is hitting me as hard as it is right now. (honestly i)
How about playing the entire album front to back the first half of the set then hits and deep cuts the second half? Wink wink.
Really enjoying the album as well. Honestly I is still my favorite, but the "new" tracks were great too. Can't wait for their very first show in Norway ever. Been waiting since 2001, my hopes are still.. there.
I think the first 4 track run rivals a lot of their best 4 track runs - talk about coming out the gate strong
