God damn you’ve got a way with words, Jason. What a review. Absolutely love the blend of personal feels and a critical review at once. I don’t have the same connection to Yellowcard as many here, but this album absolutely rules and I can relate to many other albums from bands I’ve been following my whole life.
I'm obsessed with City of Angels. It's the song that made me tear uppp. Apart from that song, I really enjoy Better Days, Honestly I, and Skin Scraped.
‘Bedroom Posters’ feels so fucking nostalgic and really hits home. One of my favorite tracks they’ve ever done.
Great read as always. So happy to see the band back with a fresh take on their sound. This line near the end seems like it should say "mortality?"
Over use of the phaser effect but other than that solid! Paper Walls still the one to beat for me though ❤️
I absolutely love this line, and it is exactly how I felt while out jogging and listening to TSL's Eternal Youth for the first time. It's really hard to describe how inspiring it is to still see these artists take on the world with music - it's a different place now, but we all still share that connection that we started building twenty years ago. It helps me keep my head up and know that those days don't have to be behind us, they are a part of us, we're still here, and we sure as hell aren't done yet.
As always what a great review. I can tell Jason is a huge fan of this band and so am I. The words exactly describe how I feel about this record and how I felt back when they announced to call it quits in 2016 after anouncing one final record and one last world tour. I was totally bummed by the fact that they called it quits at the end of 2017/ beginning of 2018. One of my most favourite bands of my teens and early adult years stopped playing music and I honestly thought I would never see them live again after seeing them 4 times live in Belgium troughout the years I Went to their farewell tour In the Netherlands at the end of 2017 to see them for the verry last time I thought. Luckily they chose to come back and for me they have made the AOTY so far in 2025. What a way to come back after 8 years with a record full of solid gems and a trowback to there entire music catalogue. Well done Yellowcard. For me they came back stronger than before the breakup.
