Kind of reminds me of "Feeling This" by Blink. Ryan kind of channeling Tom but in Ryan's way and not nasally lol
Love the track. Perfect comeback single. Love the little talk/sing parts in the verses. Welcome home, boys!
Ohhh! Thats it! I was trying to figure out why I really liked that vocal delivery and why it felt a tiny bit familiar.
Oooohhh, finally a new tune from Yellowcard! All my favorite bands from high school are releasing new music these days again! Definitely digging this track upon the first listen; can't wait for more!
Pretty much echoes all my thoughts. Hiding In the Light ... wow. The entire EP sounded fucking terrific. Also, the live stream was just a super cool idea in general - you could easily tell how proud the guys are of these songs, as they should be. Can't wait to hear them again July 7. @williamryankey ... ignore the weirdos. The single kills. Great to have y'all back!
I really enjoyed the song =) Also have to say how cool it was when the song played well with the music video (especially that "Let's go" towards the end) really enjoyed how everything worked together.
Hell of a song. These guys are right there with Jimmy Eat World among the bands that are aging gracefully in this scene, making music with just as much energy as anything they ever have, albeit a different type of energy. Anyone expecting them to write like teenagers has never written music as an adult. It’s a difficult transition from teenage songwriter to songwriter in their 20s and then 30s and onward, and a lot of guys try way too hard to be a throwback version of themselves. It’s so refreshing to hear a band being true to themselves and still writing songs that mean something. This EP now sits near the top of my most anticipated release right there with the best of the best, Jimmy Eat World. New Yellowcard and new Jimmy Eat World this year? I can’t wait.
Never been the biggest Yellowcard fan but felt this was..... okay. Agreed on some other comments that it seems to lack any real energy. Like a bland starting line song
man i love the song, dug the ep at the twitch party last night, it was really funny seeing them drink and a cool deep dive on whats been going on the last some odd years
That bridge is pure Paper Walls. Figurative and literal music to my ears. God damn it’s good to have them back.
TBF i think there is some valid takes about the energy of the song, I hope this single isn't what the majority of the album's sound is like but bands don't necessarily grow up in their sound that we as listeners envision them doing.
The EP was literally streamed yesterday. It’s very very good. And I have no idea what “don’t grow up in their sound” is supposed to mean.
and I'm sure a lot of people like myself weren't around for the stream and are waiting for 7 July. It means what it says, lots of users on this site, you included sometimes have blinders on when a band like yellowcard comes back and users get shutout of their critiques. To me I really am stoked they're back, but is this single what i envisioned it as? Not at all, but bands grow up and their sound or energy changes which is fine.. I'll still have the same love for their previous work, maybe just not as much as their current offering.
Really dig the single and looking forward to hearing the rest of the EP, but I definitely feel like there's something about the chorus that leaves it feeling "thin" or something. I dunno, love the tune regardless. Also, does it bother anyone else when an EP is referred to as an "album"?
Jason does seem to get offended and rude whenever someone disagrees with his opinion. It’s his website so he can do whatever he wants and I’m not upset about it. Just an observation. I agree that the song is mid tempo, but I don’t think it lacks energy.
