Had a blast with this. Whole thing is right up my alley and spot on with my sense of humor too which I kind of expected with Mooney behind it. Also to echo the statement from above Fred fucking Durst man, steals the show.
This was really fun but ultimately thought it was good, not great. My one big complaint is it felt like every 10 minutes there was an “emotional” scene and it killed a lot of the madcap energy they were trying to build. Mooney and Durst were easily my favorite parts.
Unfortunately I was kind of let down by this. Thought it was very average. Liked Brigsby Bear a lot more.
Glad Jenna Ortega had scheduling conflicts as much as I love her because Rachel Zegler killed it as did Lachlan
The unexpected death was very funny and everything Limp Bizkit was great. I just felt the barrage of ‘90s references were supposed to hit like a David Wain movie and instead, they landed like a thud. Tone was all over the place. Felt very weird to come from Kyle Mooney, who was so good with ‘90s homages on SNL and SMASH.
This doesn’t hang together as a movie but if you like Mooney at all there are definitely moments that’ll make it worth the price of a ticket. Also generally really impressed with the production design.
The morons will blame on Rachel Zegler. It’s too bad, but it was a really weird choice to release it right now.
Gonna do massive streaming numbers and will sell just fine on a special edition blu-ray. Speaking of, where the hell is my Dicks: The Musical steelbook??
Swear there was zero marketing for this. I just learned that it exists today. Will def wait to check it out when it hit streaming.
