Isn’t that also the last issue of X-Corp?

Feels like a good chunk of the X-books are gearing up to end (or relaunch in a new form) over the coming months. Which, is probably smart. Hard to comment on anything pre-Inferno, but I think the line needs refocused a little in some places.

I think it’s going to be a soft relaunch. Spurrier has said Onslaught Revelation was the end of Way of X "season 1" which is telling. Hellions is coming to an end with #18, Excalibur is ending too I believe. So I’m assuming Inferno is basically the end of the current arc of X-Men, with The Lives/Deaths of Wolverine being the first “event” post Inferno

    Solicits spoilers below

A Sabretooth mini series was announced last week or so, so it's fair to say some serious shit is going down in Inferno

The cover to December’s Marauders makes it seem like an ending, too.

All I really need is more Ayala New Mutants and more Ewing SWORD. Would love to finally get that Milligan/Allred X-Statix reboot, too, as well as another Williams X-book post-Trial and more good Polaris content.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure where the writers are going, but it seems from what I've read is most of the X office writers are staying and are really excited about post-Inferno, so it might be that writers are moving to new books. I also hope Ayala stays on New Mutants, but I wouldn't mind a "classic" New Mutants team up book to be honest.

How do you personally define “classic” New Mutants? ‘Cause for me, this has been the best possible extension of the original series without being a bad nostalgic retread. (And, the best way to call their book “New Mutants” when these characters haven’t been “new” mutants in a very long time, lol.)

Only thing missing for me is Sunspot and Cannonball, which has honestly been refreshing for a season because of the spotlight they’ve gotten compared to my favorite, Karma. But, if no one else has immediate plans for that duo, I wouldn’t mind Ayala being the one to pick up some of those threads.

Speaking of Cannonball, did you read Cable: Reloaded? I haven’t read all of Last Annihilation, but that one-shot was absolutely fantastic. Great Cable and Sam stuff in there.

Oh absolutely! I'm not complaining, this NM run is brilliant. I'd love to keep NM as it is, but have maybe a mini series with the Sunspot, Cannonball, Dani, Karma, Wolfsbane, and Magik line up. I was actually thinking that when I posted, New Mutants should stay focusing on the actual new mutants. If they didn't already do Fallen Angels, they could have done a Fallen Angels book with that line up would be fun.

The original New Mutants are in a weird position. They're clearly not New Mutants any more but not being put in X-Men positions for the most part during the Hickman era, I'd just love more of them. Basically I'm just greedy and love both parts of New Mutants and would love more spotlight on the both of them haha.

Yeah Cable: Reloaded was a bunch of fun. Enjoyed a lot of the 90's throwbacks and Cannonball was great.

Edit: lol I totally forgot about Doug, whoops.

The Doug reception issue and Hellfire Gala issue were a lot of fun, so maybe Vita could just do a team-up as a two- or three-issue arc in the main book. I love the idea of “New Mutants” as a catch-all title that can shift focus and give all the former younger classes moments in the spotlight (though it seems like Way of X has become home to some of the Academy X group). Honestly, kinda want them to move Jubilee over there, too; Christina Strain’s Generation X had a similar energy and was the best Jubilee stuff post-90s.

Eventually, they just need to let some of those characters be “X-Men,” though, lol.

SWORD #8 ruled. Al Ewing gets Storm in a way that very few post-Claremont writers have. So excited for more of her in this book.

Looks dope. Steve Orlando is a cool choice for new Marauders writer, and that’s a really strong roster. Hopefully he finds a way to get Marrow in there!

Finally getting around to reading the Dawn of X-Men stuff.

I quite enjoyed Marauders #01. Who knows when I'll work my way to Inferno lol.

Are you gonna read everything via official back-of-issue checklist, or just the titles that interest you?

At the moment I am following the checklist. But I am sure that, at some point, I will just continue with what I enjoy. My hope is to at least make it through the first six issues of each series in the proper order.

Godspeed to you on reading all six issues of Fallen Angels, drawn by Szymon Kudranski, lol.

Man, Fallen Angels. What a missed opportunity. I love the premise of it, I love the line up but it was just bad. The only X book since HoX/PoX I dislike. CoTA would be up there as well which is a shame because I love Ayala.

So glad Weezie & Walt have another issue of X-Men Legends coming up. The couple issues they did recently set in the X-Factor era were so good.

This shirt design is amazing, lol. If you don’t follow Valentine Smith’s work, you’re missing out; if you don’t listen to Cerebro, the fabulous longwinded X-Men podcast, you’re missing out.
