I was expecting to see my guy Longshot! Still an awesome episode though. The tone shift from the first half to the second half was interesting.
The MCU reboot of X-Men begins filming late-2025. No idea if this means we’ll get some of the MCU X-Men in Avengers 5 or Secret Wars
I’m not a fan of Geoff Thorne’s writing, but can’t say no to Surge and Safe with Forge leading the way.
Sorry if this was posted already, but do we know WHY he was fired as showrunner? I just remember articles that said he was fired, but none after that on the reason? Were there allegations I missed?
I hadn’t seen anything really. Just googled around and it’s all theories. Most seem to point to him having an OnlyFans with some stuff the higher ups found “disturbing.” One said he was difficult to work. Nothing definitive.
That was hard to watch... Looking at the lighter half of the episode, seems like they're sowing the seeds for a Cyclops Was Right arc for Scott based on how he acted during the news interview
Yeah, there were definitely traits from the Utopia era with the assimilation vs. liberation thoughts. I'm excited for it. My favorite Scott era.
this show has zero business being this fucking good. this episode (ep 05 - mutant massacre) absolutely devastated me. holy hell was that brutal. "sorry, mom"
https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/x-men-1-jed-mackay-ryan-stegman-cover-details Sounds like the Bendis Uncanny run, but they're not gonna pretend Cyclops is a villain this time
I'm excited for that actually. It's post-reset Beast, so there are some cool avenues to go down with him if they decide to have him confront the stuff he did during Krakoa, and I'd be surprised if that's not something they're thinking about since Quire is on the team too The part that gives me the most pause is I don't really like the designs for Cyclops or Juggernaut
MacKay & Stegman’s adjectiveless X-Men is honestly probably the fourth most appealing of the six “From the Ashes” books we know about so far. (Of the three where we only know the series title, I’m very curious what’s up with Storm.)
Ok, since I’m thinking about it again, here’s my ranking of most to least interesting “From the Ashes” titles (that we know more about than just the title): 1.) Exceptional X-Men (Eve L. Ewing & Carmen Carnero) This is the one I get more and more hyped to think about. I love Emma Frost and can’t wait to have someone more interesting than Gerry Duggan write her. And, I also love the Mekanix miniseries that this feels like a spiritual sequel to. 2.) Uncanny X-Men (Gail Simone & David Marquez) Just about the best case scenario for a “traditional”/“classic” X-book for me, personally, in 2024. 3.) Phoenix (Stephanie Phillips & Alessandro Miracolo) I’m fairly neutral on the creative team for this one, but Jean Grey as a solo hero, reunited with Phoenix, in space is a really solid hook imo. Just need to see a colored interior page to know for sure. 4.) X-Men (Jed MacKay & Ryan Stegman) This seems like the easiest hit for the average comic shop crowd, and will probably be fairly rad. But idk… seems like something I’d catch down the road via a half off trade. 5.) NYX (Collin Kelly + Jackson Lanzing & Francesco Mortarino) Wish a book with Ms Marvel & Laura Kinney ranked higher than this; probably would’ve been if Kelly & Lanzing weren’t the writers lol. 6.) X-Force (Geoffrey Thorne & Marcus To) Even this least appealing book has elements that seem cool… but my gut feeling is that this won’t do much for me!
