It gets to a point where Carter clearly doesn't know what to do and everything becomes irrelevant and confusing.
The three episode mythology arc at the end of season 2/beginning of season 3 is some of my favorite television ever.
Re-watching season 5’s “Folie a deux” and OF COURSE it was written and directed by Vince Gilligan. It’s a top 10 MOTW episode.
This AI episode is really good. So many experimental episodes for a show that will probably end for good in the next 3 episodes.
Exactly. There were a couple things I could nitpick, but overall a really solid experimental episode.
Tonight’s episode was such a throwback. Enjoyed it even though the writing/plot was not all that original. Dark shit though. And Scully not believing in witchcraft??? After 200 episo... I mean cases, how do you NOT believe in it?!
I've been watching the original series for the first time, and while I'm only a handful of episodes in, it's given me more nightmares than I ever expected it to. It's all so well done.
The My Struggle episodes feel like crazed fanfic. This was probably the best one but that's saying nothing because they were all abysmal. Oh well, I'm fine pretending episode 9 was the finale. This season was actually pretty good if you ignore the Carter eps.
The finale was a microcosm of what the show has become in this revival. There’s so little life in these characters. They look tired, bored, worn-down. There’s no interest by Carter to create a satisfying alien plot. Just an Alex Jones wannabe screaming about alien viruses. Bleh.
Finally finished Season 5 and the first film. I thought the film had such a great beginning and middle but the final act kind of fell on it's face. Obviously they knew they wanted a Season 6 so they chose not to wrap everything up or even hint at it.
When my grandpa passed away a few years ago, I kept all his X-Files dvds. I only watched a couple reruns on tv here and there, so I’m excited to see the overarching story. Starting it from the beginning now.
Starting a rewatch on Hulu. Amazing how this show was already churning great episodes by the third episode
