WrestleMania is 11 hours and will still probably run long. I don't expect the show to be done until about midnight east coast
I just realized a week or so back that I am on a plane from like 7-8pm. And then my 2nd flight takes off at 10pm. So, if they time this shit out right, I could see all the fun matches in between (Jeri-KO, IC ladder match, etc), while missing the garbage at the end. Could probably even stream the last hour/hour and a half from the plane if its gonna be good.
I wish Lesnar would interfere at Fastlane and brawl with Goldberg so that Owens would retain the Universal title via DQ. I know it wouldn't make sense in kayfabe because Lesnar should want Goldberg to win that belt so he can face him for it at WM, but still, I can dream.
Goldberg cost Lesnar the title at No Way Out 2004 against Eddie in the leadup to their WM20 match. Time for some revenge?
continuing my point from the other thread... but im fucking pissed that we dont get to do Owens vs Jericho at mania for the Universal title as a way to cap off a great year of this angle.
Honestly wouldn't mind Cena/Styles again at Mania. Anything but the proposed mixed tag match and Shane/Styles. Although I do believe Styles will still put on a show, he deserves better.
aj is going to deliver and he's going against the guy who was in arguably the top match on last years show. yeah, the match would be better if he was facing someone better, but its impossible to argue that he's not being treated well. aj/shane is going to be one of the most heavily promoted on the entire show.
I don't know. I feel like there are a lot of big name matches this year. I'm almost afraid AJ/Shane just gets lost in the shuffle behind matches like Goldberg/Lesnar, Taker's possible match (especially if it's Roman), Bray/Orton, KO/Jericho, and even HHH/Seth if they can proceed with that one. I do agree that AJ can easily put on one of the best matches of the night no matter who he's against.
Bigger problem with AJ/Shane is it makes no sense right now. Shane has done nothing to wrong AJ, aside from giving Cena a title match at the RR. Daniel Bryan made the triple threat last night. At least last year Shane was fighting for the company. And say AJ demands a trade for unfair treatment....why is a match with Shane the thing that stops that?
There's not enough for the feud to make sense right now, but still 7 weeks until Mania. Plenty of time. Once AJ loses in the Battle Royal he's gonna be MAD.
Eh, Shane is always going to have preferential treatment because he's the bosses son. They'll easily be higher on the card than KO/Jericho, whether they should or shouldn't be, and I could honestly see it being above HHH/Seth, or at least on par with it. Hell, a Shane match would probably have casuals more hyped than Wyatt/Orton. Like Delvec said, they have 7 weeks to make sense of this, its going to make sense by Wrestlemania. Plus, Bryan said on Talking Smack that Shane was behind Cena getting a title shot before AJ, so they're already starting it. Who knows what the reason will be for Shane fighting, but I'm pretty confident in Smackdown right now that they'll find a compelling way to do it.
Speaking of Bryan, they continue to push his feud with Miz. 5% of me thinks he has a chance at wrestling again. But If I had to guess he'll be the special guest ref in Miz/Maryse vs Cena/Nikki. Once Miz shoves him down, maybe we'll get a nice YES-LOCK as a consolation.
I trust Smackdown, but, friendly reminder that Shane showed up about 7 weeks before WM last time, got that match instantly made, and it basically never made sense after that. It was so awful a storyline overall that the night after WM, they basically pretended the build never happened. So, Im not hopeful, especially since the matches surrounding it (HHH/Seth, Jeri-KO, Wyatt/Randy, hell, even Big Show/Shaq) have had builds going for months
You also had a completely different writing team doing that story and Shane literally re-signed with the company days prior to his return. We've basically known about Shane/AJ for months now. Even though the build hasn't started yet doesn't mean they haven't been working on it from a writing perspective.
