Finally finished my kids/teen novel: A Campfire Tale. 105,000 words. I’m going to take a break and not edit or read it for a month and then dive back into it with fresh eyes. I sent it to a handful of friends for them to read and give me notes in the mean time.
signed up for my first two in-person book selling events next month! one is at a big independent bookstore in a historic district close to the Riverwalk here in San Antonio during the weekly farmer's market and the other is in a local Half Price Books! now I desperately need to get a move on with purchasing some stuff to set up. I'm thinking a banner, bookmarks with QR codes to my linktree, stickers, etc. Obviously my wife will make cookies. Maybe a framed picture of my map? Oh also need to actually buy a bunch of my own books lol
I ordered bookmarks. forgot about a QR code might have to order more. I did order a big canvas print of my cover that looks really nice too. if you’re through KDP order your author copies ASAP. They take forever.
just ordered them, Amazon says April 6th. Events are the 19th and 26th so plenty of time.....hopefully
I get distracted, but at least it takes up the waiting. I fear the fade on the tile is a lot like all my selves. What's the hurry about in the first place? Can't talk now; I'm caught up with my birthday. Hope floats down in the hallway stuck at my place. Stay the same while making up an omen. I hate to save face while scraping parts off of my shell. Did the moment get lost in the foreplay? Stay the same.
Finished writing my thesis for my MA in History that I should have in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any luck getting their academic writing published?
work in progress: i didn’t want you anyways work in progress: inquiline work in progress: take me away fragments: birds of prey work in progress: new world smell
I've been working on getting my own MA thesis published for a couple of years now (albeit not very consistently) but the problem that I've found is that converting it into the form of an academic article required too many changes to it that would have involved cutting out things that I feel like are essential to the original. I still would like to, but there just aren't that many outlets for publishing mid-length academic content out there, since a MA thesis is usually somewhere between article- and book-length. Also, I'm in anthropology for reference, so kind of similar field
from the moment i wake past the sunset, when i break and prepare for a night full of stories in the dark from the opening act to the curtain call, as i stand throwing flowers at your vicinity we're so far apart the nightmare begins when my eyes open for waking up without you leave me broken
By the way, I’m a third of the way through this and I’m really enjoying it. Intrigued to see where you take me but it’s started nicely.
Spent the last few months with my friend, who is an editor, going over my book. Sitting right at 104,000 it’s a little long for a YA book aimed at middle/high schoolers based on literally agents I’ve been submitting it to, but this is daunting lol. It takes me about 20 minutes per submission to write a personalized email and everything to go with it. The waiting game now begins as I know and expect to be turned down a lot during this process.
