this ppv is a prime example of what brand exclusive/brand split is going to feel like for a long longgggggg time. Does Kevin Owens actually FEEL like the top guy in the company right now? Does anyone believe that Owens is getting top 2 treatment? No, I mean, not even close. This is because giving him a cheap, made-up belt on the spot doesn't actually do anything for him. Unlike having ONE TRUE World Champion, where it automatically lifts you up, they can no longer rely on the belt to do that. Kevin Owens is just one of many guys all on the same tier. They have to do everything in their power to actually treat him like a champion. Hell with Seth Rollins, they gave him an entire stable for the mostpart (although even that he felt like a stooge at times, but at least then he was always THE segment on raw and had J&J security and all that).

this is also why having Roman Reigns and Rusev as your MID-CARD CHAMPION is absolutely ridiculous. It completely takes away from Owens. The mid-card belt is supposed to be used for new guys, up and comers, or dwindling legends...not two total powerhouses (one of which was a world champion 2 months ago). Our champions are now Reigns and Owens...who feels more like the "face of raw"? Pretty obvious answer. Unlike again, if Owens was the one true champion, and we had a ton of guys gunning for his one and only belt. Reigns in kayfabe pretty much said, "nah i dont want your belt...ill take rusevs instead'....i mean WHY!?

this brand split is also pulverizing the women's division on raw. Bayley, sasha, charlotte should be a GREAT match, but we've seen this type of match a trillion times this year. It's time to do something different...oh wait....they cant! Everyone else is on smackdown. This reign of charlotte is also getting to the point of nonsense.

i can go on and on about how the cruiserweight division is going to fail, but that's for another time. I liked Perkins theme song though.

Cesaro/Sheamus' title opportunity needs to be mentioned more and should be on the forefront of this whole feud. Again though, this title opportunity would be a lot more exciting if it were the one true belt.

and what the fuck with the New Day still being champions. That's so asinine I can't evennnnnnnnnnnnnn. This is Harper and Rowan all over again!!! You have these two power houses, built as "tough SOBs", and you're having them lose to three clowns with unicorns on their heads? Especially when the New Day DONT NEED TO BE CHAMPS TO BE OVER...in fact, I think there are a lot of people out there who would like them more if they dropped the belts finally. Gallows/Anderson getting a decisive win was the move their. They did this with Harper/Rowan and the usos a feel years ago, and it completely killed them for, well, the rest of their career so far.

The Club losing was definitely the worst booking decision of the PPV. These guys came in with a decent amount of hype and now they just look like chumps - and to boot, they're not as funny or cool as they were in Japan.

 

D-von is now working as an agent for WWE.

Well, at this point, if they dont break the Demolition record, then this is all pretty stupid. They beat the Kendrick/London record before Battleground. So this is now 3 PPVs where they could have dumped the belts as record holders, but instead have either not defended them or won via shenanigans

So, can cruiserweights tag with heavy weights? I mean, splitting up new day and putting perkins with xavier seems like a can't possibly go wrong situation. But i honestly don't know how it works.

 

Curious because I don't watch a lot of wrestling / know much history, but has anyone joined the E with essentially their same gimmick (ala The Club) and not had it watered down / altered in a bad way / ruined?

 

I'd argue CM Punk. Though I don't know if it was as much a gimmick as the way he is.
