reason for this is because at the start they couldn't see what was SO fucking obvious to every fan: sasha was the clear cut #1 out of the group

so when they put the belt on charlotte as soon as they all went singles, sasha winning had to be a "moment"

which still doesn't excuse how fucking dumb it was for charlotte to retain at mania, but i've beaten that to death in this thread
