Oh wow. The last part surprises me, I thought he had signed a 2 year deal last year. Part of me doesn't want him in WWE after watching all of his NJPW stuff.

  2. Would it make sense in kayfabe for Omega to feud with Styles?

If NJPW is acknowledged yes, Kenny orchestrated his removal from Bullet Club.

I think they could run a similar storyline to the one AJ had. Have him come in knowing he is the best wrestler in the world. Wipe the floor with every single star, leading up to him vs AJ. That would require AJ maintaining the belt though. I don't see that story working if Cena has the belt.

Yeah I thought I saw he was locked up until early 2018. Goddammit. The night of the Rumble I'm gonna think every wrestler, no matter the promotion, is in Gorilla.

Right, as a blow-off feud after that epic while Kenny takes a break. Itd be like doing Shawn/AJ at Fastlane just because it'd be a cool match.

Which gets at part of the issue WWE now has with WM...people expect big matches AND conclusion to long-running stories. Im not sure WWE can do both while having so many part-timers in play.

WWE makes up their kayfabe when it relates to outside companies, but, if they introduce him as the guy who kicked AJ out of New Japan, itd make sense.

Totally a way to run it where Omega is the heel telling AJ they forgot all about him in Japan, and AJ ends up being the guy defending WWE wrestling. It'd be the ideal way to turn AJ back face.

But I agree, he'd need the title for it to work

I just don't see him coming to WWE after everything. I'd be shocked. I want him to win the IWGP title more than anything haha

  9. Damn. Where can I watch that storyline?

It literally only happened because they found out he was leaving. There was no build up.

I think the biggest thing stopping anyone in WWE from having a 5 star match is how bad the creative/booking is. You're taken out of the match before it even starts because the characters are so watered down or put in these stupid situations. If you can't be totally invested in the character, how are you supposed to really care about the match itself?

There's a good amount of guys that can go but it's hard to care about them or they don't have the freedom to stand out. There's been good to great matches with stupid finishes or a storyline the next night on Raw that negates it.

And this is coming from someone who only watches WWE. Don't know if I worded what I'm trying to say correctly but that's about as best as I could do right now.

Yeah, as @Henry said it was a day long thing. AJ gave his notice he was leaving NJPW the day of WK10, and the next night was the turn.

Watching Armagedon 2000. Mick is commish and Lita used her sexuality to lure Dean Malenko into a hotel room only to get jumped by the Hardys.

    Hmmmmmm

Also I just watched Okada/Omega finally and holy hell. Even without knowing the build and already knowing the outcome of the match, I was on the edge of my seat most of the time. Easily in my top five matches

Angle was such a great heel champ.

Same. Ive watched a few Omega matches, but knew next to nothing otherwise. Just knew Okada's finish basically. Freaked out at the early rainmaker kickout in what turned out to be the midway (20ish min) point.

That table spot might still be the ballsiest thing Ive ever seen. Those tables dont break, and his neck hit dead on the edge.

Oh man that table spot... I watched the match while on a train and I jumped up when it happened. Lady next to me just gave me a wtf look haha

Agreed completely. And also the fact that because they have to fill 5hrs a week with their USA shows, its impossible to get a fresh match. Owens and Reigns have been in matches together 14 times since the brand split. I can literally telegraph their every interaction.

In an interesting way, the future of WWE is buying out past Indie storylines and creating sequels. Basically the WWE Cinematic Universe like Marvel has.

They built 2 Takeovers off the Steen/Generico feud, and got how many 4+ star matches out of it from the Royal Rumble through Battleground. The smarks care because they know the history....and you can add in fun layers like Generico/Claudio. The casual fans care because the pre-match promo is sick.

When I saw the quote from Okada where he said its the closest he ever felt to dying in a match, all I could think was "fuck man, you didnt have to do that table spot"

Tonight's TNA PPV was pretty bad. It just felt like an episode of Impact.
