That's the thing for me - booking Travis Scott in 2018-2019 makes a lot of sense as he was a huge name with a top album and a lot of media attention. In 2025, booking Travis Scott elicits a "ohhhh, this is your career rehabilitation arc where we try and make you a celebrity again" response.

 

Im gonna assume a bunch of people posting on the wrestling thread of *this* website aren’t the best barometer of Travis Scott’s fame lol

 

Not with a TV deal. The closest you get on television is probably NWA and they're airing to extremely small crowds at best.

You've got a few bigger indies that present things as just top tier wrestling matches (thinking groups like Defy or Prestige) but your average fan would have to go out of their way to find them.

 

I mean Utopia came out on 2023 and fe!n has been a massive hit. He’s just as big at this point.

Taker/Roman was def worse. HHH/Roman is probably a tie. That's the last decade.

Cant speak to anything between WM18 and WM29 (though WM27 has gotta be a STRONG contender), but I know a lot of the 1-10 WMs had some REAL clunkers.

 

I think this applies to majority of wrestling fans tho lol which is why it’s weird how much they use him

 

I don’t think using Travis Scott is to appeal to already existing wrestling fans

My counter to that is that WM is supposed to be for the fans. Maybe I’m just naive in saying that haha

 

Admittedly not in the target audience for Travis Scott, but the best example of him being a mainstream celebrity I can think of would be his collaboration with McDonald's for a Travis Scott meal and toys and that was almost five years ago.

 

It used to be (somewhat) but I don’t think it is anymore! I had mostly fun watching but nothing that happened made me want to tune in again lol

 

It could have been any celebrity and the angle would have sucked

 

I just snorted out loud at the thought of Jelly Roll waddling down to the ring and blowing out both knees trying to take Crossrhodes.

So fucking annoyed at Peacock. I'm a Christmas/Easter wrestling fan (Rumble, WM and maybe SummerSlam or Elimination Chamber) so the little clip packages before the matches are a huge part of my enjoyment because it catches me up on the feuds.

Couldn't watch this weekend. Excited to sit down with the "replay" today on Peacock and it goes to commercial during the little hype video and when it comes back goes right to the match. Skipped it completely. Had to turn it off. Ruined the whole experience for me.

 

peacock is the worst - I really do miss the perfection of the WWE Network

 

From what I gathered, only Peacock Premium users get the video packages. I saw a few people mention it online - what a bummer.

As shitty as the main event was last night I’m personally not gonna let it overshadow all the other cool/great shit that happened last night. The triple threat was honestly one of the best openers I’ve seen, that match alone made me forget about the main event

 

The IC fourway was fantastic

 

Annoying that the only part of Mania i enjoyed was the Heyman ending and now he's out there trying to ruin that too
