My biggest issue with WWE right now, and honestly the last couple years, is that they really lean into the long term storytelling thing way too much. I think it’s ultimately a crutch for them. They give us a banger start to a story. And then they drag it out forever. Put a bow on it way down the road. Any time something goes poorly they have a “way out” by just correcting it later and calling it storytelling. I don’t know why they harp on the long term stuff so much. But it becomes so forced and lame after a while imo. But people eat it up.

 

That's surprising though because I thought they were gonna do some sort of angle with dom and liv having titles and Finn not (ie jealousy and leading to a break up angle)

 

And the Seth storyline is about to become the new one of these. We'll get a new twist in the story every 4th promo, a minor payoff match at Summerslam, and it'll take til WM42 for this to actually really mean anything.

Like when Paul Heyman said they were in the third inning of the Bloodline story after WM39, and all we got was a year of absolutely mid moments, and today he'd probably say they're in the 5th inning and pretend its all a plan

I do think it's funny only in that when AEW started up it was "they do long form storytelling and WWE doesn't" and then WWE overcorrected like crazy

Hot take alert / just found this funny:

Becky is starting to get booked/return like Charlotte recently. The only difference is Becky is a gem and is loved while Charlotte is uh, not lol.

Becky comes back at SummerSlam and squashes Bianca for the title (at least that set off a heel run).

Becky randomly returns at Mania to… randomly win the tag titles for a few hours.

Charlotte certainly deserves to get shit on for seemingly always getting in the title picture but Becky ain’t far off. Just that Charlotte has been doing it A LOT longer. Will be curious how Becky gets booked the next 3-4 years to see if that trend continues or not.

 

Felt the same way about the Cody/Cena match as I did about the way they booked their feud after Chamber - odd, disjointed, and lazy. It just felt off.

I do think some of the “worst Mania in X years” stuff is pretty hyperbolic, but after that ending, I get why people are upset. I still think there was a lot of good stuff spread across the two nights, which is far more than I can say about shows like 33, 32, 27, etc. I also think 29 is pretty awful. 36 was dogshit, too, but, I just exclude it entirely due to the circumstances.

I think we were kind of spoiled a little by 40 and 39 featuring a lot of peak storytelling. This weekend was definitely a return to form.

 

Genuinely feels weird to me to put a tag title on the women’s IC champ when they barely have her defending that title. I don’t see them keeping those titles long.

 

Well I'm expecting a little Becky backlash for sure. I'm a huge becky fan but I've always considered myself a "fair" fan...in the sense i wanna see my favorites be put in good spots, and not necessarily on top.

Unless we are going back to big time becks (which i liked and they cut way too short) I'm nervous

It just irkes me that Becky can just waltz back in and fuck others over whom didn’t get on the card like Bayley and Chelsea. Also pretty shitty Liv had to do the job

 

Oh wow! So it seemed that The Rock was supposed to show up but backed out.. either he has a bit of a falling out with Triple H and co or had a family emergency and dropped out last minute.

 

Cena says he is going to ruin wrestling forever on Raw tonight. Wonder if he pulls some stunt like he is cutting the retirement tour short and announcing his retirement tonight with the belt and taking it with him. Obviously he cant, but seems like a heel move.

 

They're just playing to the Becky Hogan accusations.

 

I'm going to assume he's showing up at Raw or Smackdown assuming those are also in Vegas tonight.

 

Brings back the spinner belt and then retires.

 

Hope so but if he doesn't show up to Raw or Smackdown this week then I assume something serious has happened for him not showing up.

Nobody hates the business of pro wrestling more than the WWE. It’s really hard to suspend disbelief when they constantly beat us over the head with the fact that it’s just a TV show.

 

Bayley wasn't gonna be on the card most likely as of like a month ago. She's not really in any relevant program and the match felt forced....so rhey gave Lyra a rub on mania. What's wrong with that
