There's not a long-term plan. There's a quarterly and yearly plan. WWE is an offset for TKO for the debt Endeavor took on buying UFC. They're gonna squeeze every dollar out of WWE and then probably try and sell it off after the next TV deals.

And honestly, it feels like they're probably making the right bet (sadly). Fans dont care about wrestling. Botching the New Day heel turn or the dozen other booking fails they've made the last couple of years hasnt hurt ticket sales or profits. They reasonably think they can turn Oba and Trick and Carmelo and (insert NXT call up) into stars and keep dumping the older guys.

 

it's funny that their clear disdain for tag team wrestling is rooted in the fact they have to pay two people. it's an inefficiency.

 

Its actually cracking me up, almost every recent WWE singles champ is a guy rather famously associated with a tag team or faction that helped break them out (Cody, Penta, Roman, Rollins, Drew, Jey)...and their current tag champs are 4 straight up singles wrestlers in slapped together teams.

Was just saying this to a buddy earlier, it reminds me of the Okada drop kick. Way too smooth for a guy his size, and such a devastating counter that it sucks the soul out of your opponents. You could absolutely make a 2yr feud out of Roman trying to beat Oba, and getting murdered every time he does his rope rebound to set up a Superman Punch or Spear.

edit: Though, shit, footwork wise, its a Kenny Omega V-Trigger. He his the rope and 2 footsteps later a 6'6" 300+lb guy is airborne. And its as dynamic as Kenny when he basically clears the ring in one step to hit his V-trigger
