This is hilarious for a bunch of reasons, but primarily because their counter-programming of All In was a gigantic failure. Nobody watched The Great American Bash who was gonna watch AEW. AEW wrapped up an incredible night of matches right before SNME came on, which was a dud fest (and their marquee match left with Goldberg pissed about the rushed build). And then they had a poorly slapped together Evolution PPV (that was surely planned as the actual Saturday counter-programming before they got scared of the PR).

AEW can announce all their non-major 4 PPVs like 6-8 weeks ahead of time, sell 10k tickets, and do 130-140k PPV buys. WWE cant put together an NXT PLE/main roster PLE on that same time frame and do well cause they arent that nimble. And now that it costs the same...

 

Saudi Arabia was pushing for a main event of The Rock against either Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns. Those in Saudi Arabia close to the General Entertainment Authority, headed by Alalshikh, confirmed this week that the show is official and they claimed negotiations for Dwayne Johnson were advancing and they believed the deal was close to being finalized. The impression is that the final payment number for the show will be affected by whether or not they get The Rock in the main event. The idea is that the individual payoff for Johnson would be multiple times that of any pro wrestler for any event in history.

Them finally paying off the Bloodline storyline arc in fucking Saudi is gonna be so, so funny

 

AEW could really do a traditional “”“mania”””weekend somewhere that year around a big show here in the states. Let all the usual indie shows book around All In
