Pretty perfect use of Tana. Gave him that Roman Reigns nap multiple times, and brought him out for 3-4 spots.

I’m happy that no matter how rough Tanahashi looks he still is getting in the ring and giving it whatever he has for his retirement run.

Toni v Athena was my fav probably because that ending was legitimately shocking to me I could have sworn she was losing

Ospreay return next year will be legendary

Still haven't recovered from the gummy bear spot and Ibushi trying to karate the cage door open.

 

Solid 'B' in my book, I think the overall quality is good but the card was just a bit too predictable top to bottom to ever get too excited.

 

I agree with this grade. It was unfortunately a bit of bad timing with the G1 and Stardom’s tournament happening too close to this year’s FD, combined with the fact we knew Swerve wasn’t beating Okada and that most of the other matches were easy to predict. I don’t think those matches being easy to predict makes them bad, as AEW just puts on bangers no matter how predictable the match could become. But yeah, the surprise returns made sense and were logical story beats, and every single match advanced its own narrative and story very well.

I’d lean B+ to A-, but I think B is pretty fair all around.

 

Yeah, like Nigel/ZSJ was great, but you couldnt even get a 2.99 count pop in that match if you wanted. TBS championship was the most in the spirit of Forbidden Door and also probably not accidentally the best match that wasnt the last 2.
