Lol, so all those people going "who's gonna pay $50/ppv" are gonna be paying nearly that for any WWE PLE.

I think this is a HUGE mistake by WWE. What they had going for them was that its incredibly easy to follow them on streaming services nearly everyone already had. I havent thought about UFC in years since their move to the same model, and their cultural cache seems to be way down. Cant see how WWE trends on social media when 1/10th the number of people are watching

 

The key is what else is actually only available on espn+ or whatever. No im not gonna pay 29.99 every month for just wwe. But if it has a ton of orher must see sports stuff than maybe

So far im reading, im not seeing much value. Redzone is an add on service so nuts to that

 

$30 a month just for WWE PPVs when I have been paying like $10 the last decade?

 

There's a lot of cope around the concept that cable or other streaming live TV services will provide access to ESPN DTC but it hasn't been made clear whether those services will provide access to ESPN DTC or just the ESPN+ portion, which will still exist. I suspect it's actually the latter which is how it works now. Why would those services want you to use the ESPN DTC for everything related to ESPN? They'd then miss out on their own ad opportunities which exist when broadcasting ESPN.

So my best guess based on how this has worked in the past is:
- ESPN DTC will be the $30/month to start and include access to ESPN+
- Cable and other streaming providers will have access to ESPN+, not ESPN DTC
- WWE PLEs will be broadcast on ESPN as reported (but lol if this isn't the case then everyone needs to pay for ESPN DTC if they want to watch this fascist company's product)

So those with cable will avoid having to pay for ESPN DTC but it'll be worse than ever with ads right in the middle of Cody Rhodes finally doing his heel turn.

The language is definitely a little unclear, but thus far, virtually every single source (wrestling or otherwise) is adamant that pay TV subscribers will get full access to ESPN “unlimited”, not just +.
