Also, nobody in wrestling is booking their titles worse than the WWE womens midcard belts right now. Tourneys for both winners...and since, Chelsea is 0-3 in matches, and I guess Lyra at least lost to someone of Bayleys stature. But yeah, 0-4 in matches since winning.

As much as we talk about wrestler X being the new Dolph Ziggler, its what Finn has been since the fish flop. He's the enhancement heel (just with a stable for now) that every face they want to boost to the top of the card goes over, and occasionally puts over midcard guys too

 

Funny that Ricky Starks debut was interrupted by Ethan Page because I immediately thought “well, Ethan Page is now an after thought” as Starks was walking down.

As much shit as I talked about how Ricky should have beat MJF and been AEW champ, why do I have a hard time seeing him ever leave NXT? He’s like the same size as Ava

 

Especially Chelsea Green, she’s literally one the best things going and she has a great gimmick. I just don’t understand how you put a title on someone and not book them to win

 

Man didn’t Page just have a singles match on their PLE like 3 days ago. I don’t even watch the show and I know that.

 

I will say the build to mania has sucked and it’s mainly because we don’t have the rock and Roman steering the story


I think it’s pretty obvious that this year’s mania won’t be even close to last years

 

We are legitimately 8 weeks of shows away from mania. Idk why there’s so much hand wringing here

 

the majority of manias largely do suck and this thread turns up anyway.

 

I dunno - last year right after the Super Bowl we had the press conference and Cody slapping Rock and mania had a vision

but that’s more likely lightning in a bottle and what @bigmike said - it usually stinks and it’s still fine

17, 21 and last year are the only true great WM’s imo.

 

Mania being two weeks later this year has also changed up the lead up. Also mania 39’s ending is what helped last years build kick off so quickly with as much anticipation (ignoring the Dwayne of it all).

I also think we kinda forget every year how much of the card comes together in the last few weeks before mania.

 

I wonder how many people remember how bad the build to Wrestlemania 17 was, including Rock/Austin (and Debra)

 

I have deleted all memories of that build that aren't in the My Way promo.

 

19 for sure. I'd put 30 and 24 there as well. 20 was epic at the time, but obviously tainted now.

It's not that bad. He didn't want WWE to have the rights to Starks. Could've been worse considering the names they've come up with in the past.

 

Right, that’s my point. The build doesn’t always indicate what the show is going to be like.
