Honestly, with how he looked in the ring during his AEW run, I think the "WWE style" suits him far, far better

 

How? They fired him for super good reason and have had 3 straight solid PPV sales without him. They took what they were paying him and turned it into Ospreay.

Punk's gotta do something he hasnt done in about 12 years, and make it a year without publicly imploding, for this to not be a net negative for WWE.

 

Collision was already going to struggle with ratings. I’m sure WBD already knew that. Your alarmist reaction is completely unnecessary. AEW just got done doing 11K at the Forum with 120-140K PPV buys. The PPV’s have done well even with adding more shows. They aren’t WWE, but they are doing just fine without Punk.

Dude still cuts a top 5 promo in the business...he's a perfect pickup through WM (if he doesnt tantrum out) to do a big boost for someone.

No point in not taking a risk on Punk if you're WWE. You don't need him to be a locker room leader, whatever they're paying him isn't going to impact them one way or another, and you win an optics battle.

I'm not talking real life, I'm talking Reddit/internet wrestling talk. That ratings thread is gonna be a bloodbath. And WWE did 17k in the same building back to back nights while screaming out loud "CM Punk isnt showing".

AEW's doing great in basically everything but live show ticket sales, largely explained by them running the same venues to death, and as long as TK keeps cutting checks, I aint worried.

 

Hopefully his body doesn’t break down quickly again.
