I mean, this tracks with the traditional way the G1 works. The NJPW champ is often in it, and traditionally title shots are given to people who beat the champ during the G1 (thats how they fill out the PPVs). New people cycle in each year. Its just a slightly added wrinkle that probably serves as a nice plot device to get the title off a long-reigning champ if needed.

Whats gonna be pretty wild in this year's is that Eddie said he's defending his belts in every match. So...say he wins his block...but goes 4-1. He's not even guaranteed to be Strong/ROH champ heading into the finals...it could be some random dude who went 1-4 but beat Eddie in the last match.

 

I cant even figure out the kayfabe where those 3 outfits make sense in a ring. Was there inexplicably a War Games Contract Signing?

 

Put me on this team for booking. Don’t want to see him languish after this match for sure

 

Also, kinda weirdly excited for survivor series because I’ve been so tuned out of WWE the last few months…and this is where HHH usually delivers. Figure we’re getting some big deal stuff in both matches

 

Smart of them to announce Randy early so the crowd doesn’t expect Punk

 

but the ROH title is being absorbed, not just defended - so defending it and defending the title of Continental whatever are the same, whereas the G1 has a prize of its own that is always opposite the champion at WK. this is the whole damn thing in one as it's been described and it's gotta give. i know belts are props, but the ROH title lineage is pretty damn great and id be a little bummed to lose it, despite never watching the product lol

 

this is my favorite thing about WWE, it feels like they're catering to people like us. a big change for me on this front is theyre less shy about saving surprises for the post-PPV TV and just giving us the surprises on the PPVs. it always sucked to finish a PPV with a hint of an angle but it wouldn't actually kick in til Raw or SD

 

just watched the Miz/Gunther segment, goddamn

 

watching BFG, and the Impact ring seems noticeably more forgiving than the big three. make all rings cushier tbh

 

I haven’t seen it yet but been seeing the talk about it. Crazy how Miz always finds himself in these moments. Gotta give him his due.

 

I want to see Chicago give miz the same standing ovation Sheamus was given in Wales

Miz & Sheamus are great parallels in a weird way tbh, they've strictly improved their whole time there

Sold my ticket to Survivor Series and bough tickets to tomorrow's Dynamite instead. I low key hope that they don't announce anything for tomorrow so the whole show will be a surprise.
