I don’t necessarily think all of this is a work, too many people come off looking badly (or at least weirdly) in how it’s all played out, but the reason I still could see it being at least partially tied to storyline, real beefs included, is how well it lines up with the reasons Hangman and Eddie Kingston and even MJF laid out for why they hate Punk: he’s a hypocrite, selfish, Hangman even said “I’ll be defending AEW from you”. I could see this being the arc they had planned for Punk, and it feels rushed maybe because they skipped a lot of what they planned for the summer?

 

I think it’s 100% shoot that’ll be turned into a work

If thats accurate, the only acceptable outcome is Ace Steel has already been fired, and CM Punks next time in an AEW arena is when his music hits at Grand Slam to do the job to MJF. MJF gets to build the feud however he wants and gets to walk in and out to the massive Long Island pop a champion

Yeah, Nick Jackson just made millions off Tony, if he wants, for allowing a combustible situation to happen while he's sitting there and for not protecting his workers from an on-the-job incident like that. Gonna be the easiest workplace injury suit in the world.

Which is why you have to fire Ace and suspend Punk, because otherwise its the only recourse The Bucks have.

Its basically a dead repeat of the MJF situation. An inability to manage key talent + upset worker going rogue + a situation that eventually was controlled and turned into a work.

The MJF one was far cleaner of course, and I also dont really see any way Kenny/Hangman want to work with Punk after all this, so it wont become a traditional work, probably just a full Punk heel turn

 

Punk has Tony by the dick. He won't do anything. He might "suspend him without pay" for a few weeks or some shit but that's it.

Ace Steel is 100% gone tho lol

Punk doesn’t have anyone by the dick. He hasn’t brought anymore sustained success to AEW than they already had before him. They were doing just fine before Punk. He hasn’t increased ratings or buy rates that much. He also isn’t going to go to WWE. They can easily get rid of him and move in if they wanted to.

 

He definitley popped things big with his return...but yeah, since then its kind of a wash.

 

Man, I dont even remember this, but Punk was even a dick to the Bucks/Cody back before he joined, back when he joined Backstage
