people in here were talking about punk being the reason they got into wrestling and being a HOFer, which by any metric he definitively is. idk what else you have to do to earn respect lol. people are mad someone with more of a fanbase than them entered their company and expected to be treated as such. he's a dick, absolutely. but he's great at what he does. it isn't that complicated.

 

When you’re in a brand new locker room and have been gone from the business for 7+ years after being called an asshole by a lot of people. You definitely need to earn respect again.

With guys who have been wrestling together for much more than 3 years. They leaned on each other through the indies and became the most successful indie wrestlers of all time, changed the game.

 

Danielson helps tons of guys behind the scenes, Jericho too, i’m sure there are plenty of examples of that, the difference is that they aren’t fuckin assholes. Punk is a WELL documented asshole. It’s too bad, we thought he may have changed. He absolutely didn’t.

 

Eh, its much deeper than that though. Almost all of these guys have been working PWG/NJPW/etc together for the last decade. Punk falls into the category of a Danielson or Mox...both of whom are outsiders to that group but seem to have genuinely fit in and worked with the locker room.

 

so are the FTR guys just delusional outsider losers too then? were they liars when they talked for 5 minutes uninterrupted about how much Punk was helping guys behind the scenes?

i think both can be true a) punk doesn't get along with or like some of the top dogs at AEW and b) he is helpful with a lot of the young talent and is a mentor in the same way y'all are mentioning Mox and Danielson are

 

You don't get to be an asshole to a certain group of people and then it gets cancelled out because you are friendly with another group.

Just be a fucking humble adult and realize not everyone needs your assistance.

absolutely, but TK’s biggest fuck up of the night was not calling an audible on the decision

 

The other HUGE thing that needs to be acknowledged and we have talked about it in here, Colt is a trail blazer for indie wrestlers, and has ALWAYS had a great reputation and is genuinely a good guy. I love Colt. Every guy who has slummed through the indies and now is in AEW will thank Colt to some degree for where they are.

 

Yeah it's not the whole company. Just the guys who created it and are some of the best talent! haha

 

the bucks are not some of the best talent in the company lol. kenny, sure. again, until we hear more, i’m skeptical that punk was actually directing any of that at kenny. i’ve already discussed hangman. he shouldn’t have gone that hard in on him but hangman also shouldn’t have been as weird as he’s been the last month

 

Regardless of whatever side you are on that presser was a terrible look. Who in their right mind can defend punk openly shitting on another employee of the company like he did with Colt? That’s an absolutely awful PR move, does nothing to get you over as most people don’t even care about Colt and makes you look like an angry asshole. Dude hasn’t earned enough respect to act unhinged like that.

 

Punk has ALWAYS been this guy. It’s sad he hasn’t grown out of it yet.

 

I'll disagree in-ring even, but, in terms of creating a brand, they might be THE best in the business. They built an entire company off the backs of a Youtube show. They got their gear as the hottest selling shirt in Hot Topic. They are probably as close as we'll ever see again to NWO/Stone Cold levels of mainstream popularity for a niche sport like wrestling.

Like, there's better guys in the ring, sure, but as a total package...being able to produce matches, build people, etc...theyre probably top 5 in the company

 

They actually got the ending exactly right if the payoff is an Acclaimed win at Grand Slam. They needed Swerve to be a clearer heel (and he was). They needed Keith Lee to start trending heel. And they need a few weeks of build to get the Acclaimed at their absolute hottest.

They put all the pieces in place for that match to again steal the night, even over Punk/MJF, in NY. Also, both Acclaimed dudes are local there, so it fits the AEW "win in your hometown" thing

if they execute on it, for sure

 

I'm not a lawyer and do not know all the details of Punk-Cabana things, i can imagine publicly airing details of about what you found out in discovery about a defendant even if the suit is over is probably not the best idea legally.

 

If they dont, then its just as bad as what WWE did to the Street Profits...getting them red hot as babyfaces them yanking out the rug
