Clash was consistently better than All out but All Out’s ending smoked Clash and ultimately that’s probably what matters most

eh, MJF saved the show from being a D-tier show. Overall, I think most will still remember Clash for being the best show of the weekend with the best match of the weekend

The voicemail was top tier professional wrestling shit. The Punk ROH clip alone for that was worth every dollar Tony paid for the company

 

Glad I didn’t pay for this, but bummed I didn’t get to see the main event and aftermath

 

whole show felt like the classic "put a bunch of heels over so the main event winner will be more satisfying"

but the main event was between two faces. and was poorly built, so even the chicago crowd wasn't entirely behind punk. And then you've got one of the smarkiest crowds in wrestling with a well loved returning guy... yeah.

 

Surely the MJF/Punk match is the Grand Slam main. MJF is gonna shit all over Buffalo not being Long Island.

Ethan Page (in retrospect, the good faction pick), Lance Archer, Kyle O'Reilly (who I'd pick), Parker Boudreaux, The Butcher (a close 2nd with factional ties)....all good heels for CM Punk to face in a "I need to test myself" warmup where fans freakout if he's healthy after he wins put "hurts his foot on the GTS" and everything pays off the same way

 

I didn’t like that part. Felt very “They’re going off script” WCW era to me.

 

It was easily the worst AEW PPV but that’s also rating it on an absurd curve since every prior PPV has been A-level

hope full gear is better

 

grand slam is in three weeks? yeah. Punk vs MJF gotta be the main event there. Hope we also get Britt vs Hayter then too so that Hayter/Toni can be ready in time for full gear. Then put the tag belts on the acclaimed for good measure, do Death Triangle vs Elite as your Rampage main event, and you've already got a great show lined up.

 

yeah it was still better than 90% of the PPV's WWE has done in the last decade

 

Also bad night for BCC - wonder what’s next for them - probably another match against JAS with Garcia a part of BCC - that would be cool

house of black could use a new leader - maybe Miro

 

I mean, thats fair because it kinda hurts Stokely's involvement. The angle should be that the man who showed up as MJF departed, and who gave his card to everyone, would surely search out MJF. And its more fun if Tony doesnt value MJF.

But yeah, again, this is the stuff that AEW doesnt usually miss on. Like, I'm supposed to notice that Luchasaurus wore black gear the whole time to be prepared to Jungle Boy to die...but also believe a twice-broken foot heeled in 2 weeks?

 

If Malakai is gone for a bit, they probably go underground for a while. Buddy does indie stuff, Brodie tours, Julia sadly sits on Dark til they are ready.

 

MJF should win the title and go on Roman Reigns type reign lol

 

I wonder what’s next for Miro / maybe WWE

 

MJF winning the title is fun if there is a young pillar to dethrone him...Starks and Jungle Boy died tonight...Hangman took out his own teammate...like, the only obvious answer off tonight is Wardlow.

Wardlow has been #1 contender in AEW since DoN. If MJF takes the belt, Wardlow is probably gunning for him. That'd free up the TNT belt for him to chase again. Doesnt seem like he had any HOB tease, though he seemed upset Darby got the pin...sorta like Eddie was when he didnt get the win at Blood and Guts

 

God I forgot about how they totally fucked up the Ricky Starks match - love to halt all his momentum - more great booking

 

Really don’t think Ricky needs that win tonight though. He’s gonna be over regardless if he won or not, Hobbs on the other hand definitely had to go over to legitimize his character.
