Outstanding match for the Acclaimed, they shocked the fuck out of me. They didn’t need to win, they needed to show they can work great on the big stage.

I'll agree if they win the titles by the next PPV or so. Swerve/Lee needed that to lose at Grand Slam to someone and then have their own thing...but man, for as fan friendly as most AEW PPVs are, this PPV is just slamming the "crowd killer" button.

Like, Jade/Athena should have been on the pre-show and Hook/Bronson on the main card at how this is going just to give the crowd a nice clean cheer

Also, if Britt wins this match, this PPV's gone off the rails.

 

Acclaimed need to win the titles at Grand Slam or otherwise it'll be a waste

this is like when Enzo and Cass were super over in WWE and they never pulled the trigger on them and then they became irrelevant

 

You’re not wrong, they didn’t need the win. but a win tonight would’ve been one of those special moments you can’t actually plan for. Even if you put belts on them later this year… it won’t be as magical as it could’ve been tonight

 

I will say, the difference is that, as a team, they were always clearly a manager and a future champ...whereas The Acclaimed are far more 50/50 as that match showed.

If they book that match AND a Britt win back to back....I almost cant imagine what the crowd does for the match that follows (which is probably Jungle Boy v Cage)

And I'd say AEW pays off a face who gets hot, but, FTR arent even in the title discussion somehow when they've been red hot

 

The Acclaimed are not gonna be irrelevant after that match.

Man this thread is really taking all the fun out of an overall very enjoyable wrestling night.

 

Also, there's a big difference between say, Ricky Starks...who's also red hot but you can pay off the build over multiple PPVs...and what The Acclaimed are doing, which of all things, has been basically built off a jobber angle.
