The Reddit comments on that post…. Why does it always have to be “people that are upset are just WWE Fanboys trying to hate on AEW”

He probably didn't even read the interview, she flat out said there's no bad blood on her end and her side of the story is it was mutual

“We greatly value Big Swole’s opinion and are always striving to continue to provide the most diverse cast of entertainers on television.”

PR would be the easiest job in the world if you could just force billionaires to hand over their cell phone.

YOU EXPECT SOMEONE TO TAKE A SHOT AT M'TONY AND NOT GET A SHOT BACK? TALK SHIT GET HIT

obvious sarcasm but lmao that's actually what people think and Tony used the exact argument every Reddit thread about, "AEW needs better diversity" has as a defense

Another good point she made was about those who are too shy or not creative enough. Really highlights that you kinda need a mix of the WWE process and the AEW process to make it work.

Honestly just delete the part where he said she wasn’t good enough and it’s 75% more acceptable

really dumb tweet. you can't come off that thin-skinned when you hold the power you do, but more importantly it makes your current roster wonder how you might treat them in the future

This is why I've always rolled my eyes at the idea that wrestling with writers is inherently bad. Obviously WWE is overwritten, but I've never really seen "creative writing" as a necessary skillset for wrestlers.

That I actually don't agree with. I think being charismatic and creative is a basic part of the job.

Yeah you definitely have to have that. But it doesn’t hurt to have someone in your corner to write stuff for you also. Especially when they are booking the show. As we have seen in WWE there are plenty of people that were creative and charismatic and they still couldn’t get anywhere. You need a bit of both

man every part of that statement from Tony Khan gets worse and worse

No one wants to hear how he has black friends. Pointing out that some people won on TV doesn't really actually address the criticisms Swole talked about. Going "I let the contract expire because she wasn't good enough" is also not productive and lastly, don't use this as an opportunity to pimp your show.

Hopefully this puts to bed the idea that Tony Kahn is a "good billionaire". He's still a billionaire. He's just a billionaire with at least a bit of knowledge of what makes good wrestling which turns out is enough to be better than the competition.

Eh, I like that AEW has a more open policy of pitching and writing than WWE, but, I do not expect every wrestler to be able to write a TV ready promo. I dont expect Tom Cruise to be a screenwriter. In a company that is already too white, where the power centers are largely white men, its exactly the recipe to get Adam Cole wrestling every week on TV but have Ruby Soho off TV for nearly 2 months. Or how I see like 5 Bobby Fish matches in the time I see a single Kris Statlander match.

One of these companies desperately needs to adopt the standard of other television shows and map out how to use characters and genuinely plan all their story lines for a season (so, like 6+ months out) and then realize how male heavy it is

Not sure what to think about that he also didn't mention Brandi being an executive. Wouldn't have made it better, but that's something that stuck out to me
