I'm having fun with Fight Forever. What annoys me the most is only being able to run in a straight line. Hope they add more match types overtime because it’s feeling pretty bare bones in that department

Did a double take when I saw Matt Hardy wrestling John Morrison on Rampage.

 

Makes sense; the build to that final 5 minutes or so was just nuts.

Yes and no..if we go back the last decade the mens MITB winners who were elevated by it are Seth Rollins...and thats probably it? And even that might just be the nature of how he cashed in. Everyone but Baron Corbin that followed after was a top-card guy or former champ (Randy, Sheamus, Ambrose, Braun, Brock). And the last 3 mid-card guys they tried to elevated all failed (Corbin, Otis, Theory...who literally cashed in on a midcard belt). Womens side is the same thing, Carmella and Liv are the only two that made something of it, and it was Alexa/Bayley/Asuka as all literal champs that won it for a while there. Nikki ASH might have been better not winning it.

Feels like when it was a WM thing, it was used smartly as a "build a midcard guy" thing...and when it became its own PPV it became about the winner needing to sell the PPV

 

Im gonna half-agree with Slade here; this fits nicely into the story I was reading about the first time Woods did a trombone bit for the New Day...completely unplanned, and became so popular that Woods stopped getting booked in actual matches (it'd be E/Kofi/rando partner) so Woods could do the bit ringside. Had they been forced to stay the original New Day gimmick, Kofi would be retired, Woods would be a trivia question, and Big E would be the "man, can you believe WWE fucked that guy up" story...instead they got it over in spite of the gimmick. Fandango got over in spite of the gimmick.

Wont agree that the Jungle Boy gimmick was bad though; the gimmick actually got both dudes over (Luchasaurus got over in LU on the gimmick too)...and much like Fandango never really escaped his gimmick, kinda feels like Jungle Boy might never either.

 

Also, wasnt LA Knight doing the dead-end MMM stuff not that long ago? Talk about a gimmick change saving someone

 

Almost one year to the day of this disaster.

I only remember it because was on a road trip & naturally put wrestling on at the hotel. My wife got out of the shower and immediately went “what the fuck are you watching?” when she saw this trainwreck on the screen.

 

Damien Sandow might have been the biggest victim of that. Although that was when they were doing one for Raw & Smackdown.
