With all the connections they've made with New Japan & Impact and signing like this, do we see AEW moving time slots any time soon to try and see if they can take on Raw or SD? Or maybe even have that rumoured second main show be on one of those days? I reckon we may be 6/12 months off seeing them attempt to take on the main roster.

Meh, they should let it rock on Wednesdays and just ignore Raw and Smackdown.

I think they stay where they are. Especially with the decent chance that NXT gets moved once NHL moves to USA. They need to focus on gaining momentum and not competing with WWE.

  6. "So Paul Wight is All Elite. And it’ll be interesting to see how Big Show’s decision to forego a Legends contract, a Hall of Fame berth, WWE side projects, and the usual veteran perks for a bigger on & off-screen role and more money now impacts negotiations with other stars of yesteryear."

interesting point brought up by the Cageside Seats post about it

Definitely a surprise pick-up by AEW.

I guess we should've known that a Monday YouTube show was coming given that they've put now, two women's tournaments on Monday's at 7.

Maybe this means Dark won't run 2+ hours anymore...

  8. exactly - it's meant to split up Dark from being so long

Damn, and actually using him for commentary. He is going to rule in that role. But honestly never expected him to walk away from WWE

I think this could happen more and more in the future given that WWE is making so much money off these TV deals yet not spending it on talent. It’s almost like WWE is pocketing profits preparing to sell to someone like NBC in a few years.

I think its even simpler than that; the real threat from AEW is over...NXT may never beat it, but AEW shows no long-term trend of getting to RAW/SD level numbers, AEW appears to have no long-term plan to threaten WWE's house show and PPV model, and WWE is raking in money on TV deals that are in no danger til like 2025.

So they're doing what every big company does at that point where they're gonna stay steady; they trim fat to keep profits high. There's no reason to sign everyone possible to big deals, because almost no individuals actually move the numbers. And there's no reason to be afraid of jobbers heading to AEW, because none of them have made an impact. The only danger WWE really faces at this point is pissed off investors.

100%. Though, the reality is that the new show is either gonna be on a weekend or compete with RAW/SD. Tue/Thurs are locked up on TNT for too much of the year for them to put it there.

Taya should have been on the main roster a long time ago

It will be interesting to see who and when the first person will go from AEW to WWE. It’s gotta happen at some point. And I wonder if / when someone goes from WWE to AEW and back again, or how long WWE will wait before bringing someone back.
