How much advertiser money does NBC make per viewer on USA? Is it significantly more than they'd get from just showing the ads via streaming? They could even put it behind one of the paid tiers meaning they are getting both subscription money *and* advertisement money.

 

I do this fun thing on Mondays if work has been super crazy and I can't get my workout in during the AM or in the afternoon where I put on Raw. I find that it motivates me to finish my workout quicker, no matter how tired I am, so I can get the fuck outta there and turn it off.

 

I don’t know how advertising money works, but I imagine ad revenue on USA is probably more than Peacock especially since you can subscribe to ad free for what you pay for the WWE Network now. The ad revenue can’t be that much. Also they are paying WWE $265 million per year for RAW the next three years. Would make zero sense for them to take the show off USA and put it on the network. Maybe that’s something that happens if Peacock gains popularity in the future, but no way that happens anytime soon.

 

Unless something has changed in the digital ad space in a big way, the answer is yes, and by a factor of like, 10x if not more. Its why networks are freaking out and buying anything live, and why WWE's model is gonna come crashing down eventually.

Why spend $10k for a set of TV ads that air on RAW, once an episode, for a month when, every day, targeting RAW's best demos, I can show up in the news feeds of a million people on FB?

The survival model going foward is "$X.xx/month to go without ads", or to have enough content where you can serve ads that bolster other things you sell at high margins. WWE doesnt have that, thus why they sold out the network. NBC has that where they can upcharge you for Peacock AND sell you the internet you use to access it AND try to get you to pay to see their movies in theatres or whatever.

 

I will say that these TV deals for WWE are a bubble that’s going to pop. Especially given the so so ratings for the huge price FOX and NBC are payin. After that bubble pops I could see RAW and SD on streaming services.

 

Though clearly NBC execs know something I cant see; because they paid a lot for RAW and NXT, then decided to pay just as much to buy the back catalog...there's no way they did that without feeling confident they at least come to a break even somehow...so they must think they'll convert a lot of WWE fans to Peacock and somehow make them AT&T or Comcast subscribers somehow.

 

• WWE informed the roster via its Talent Relations app that the company will not be providing COVID-19 vaccines for on-screen talent, according to Fightful Select. As independent contractors, if they want to get vaccinated they have to handle it on their own.
• Reactions from wrestlers the site spoke to ranged from “shocked” to “frustrated but not surprised”. Some said there are senior members of staff who actively speak out against COVID and its existence altogether.
