Of all the moves they've made, this one feels like its gonna cause the most outrage. Cause there are a TON of dudes who seem content to be lost in the WWE shuffle, then do a bunch of UUDD stuff backstage and just enjoy themselves.

 

The fact that it counts against their downside guarantee once it’s WWE controlled is basically WWE pocketing all of the money during the pandemic. What a classless move.

 

Also don’t see how that’s independent contracting. I get not being able to use their character names but to be like nah I’m gonna take the other money you make?

Hey, someone explain to me what a downside guarantee is because I'm dumb as fuck

 

Short version is a WWE salary is basically like a veteran minimum NFL deal with tons of incentives to be earned.

So, you get like:

$150k/minimum
X% of merch sales
X bonus for matches worked
X bonus for a PPV match

And the list goes on and on and on...the top guys will get a part of the gate, etc. It basically assumes you work next to no matches and/or are injured for most of the year. It's there to, in some way, force the company to use you since they are paying you X amount no matter what.

Adding the Twitch money to their downside guarantee is basically saying "Oh, you make $40k/yr on Twitch, well now we only have to pay you $110k"

 

I dunno how long Styles contract is but you have to believe this is his last contract with WWE

 

Rumor was 5 years, so, odds are he's gonna be retired before that ends anyway

 

I wonder how much he regrets that contract now

 

I think styles making $3.5 mil probably softens the blow

 

Oh for sure but I mean I feel like he could have gotten somewhat that amount from AEW while also getting to watch his son’s football games and keep his twitch channel to himself

Eh, the story the Bucks tell is about AJ thanking them profusely for forcing WWE to go big with their number. Maybe AEW has that kind of money, but I doubt it. Plus he sees how easy it is to make big pay days working like 5 times a year...he knows he can pull an Edge or Batista for the next 10-15 years whenever he wants.

The real test is guys at like a Gallows/Anderson level. WWE isnt gonna be offering those people insane money anymore, so Im curious how many will actually re-sign.

 

I don't think AJ ever planned to leave. Pretty sure he said he wants to keep with WWE once he retires. No way Vince doesn't love him at this point.

 

Looks like WWE is switching plans for Mania. Probably going to be Tampa instead of LA since DeSantis don't give a fuck.
