Don’t know how I feel about that rumble. Maybe my least favorite of the last few years? Although I really enjoyed all the Brock stuff and the rumble suffered after he was eliminated. The Seth group storyline was stupid. Why wouldn’t they just go in and eliminate everyone since there is no DQ? Absolutely love Drew winning and the whole Drew/Brock dynamic was great.

Most importantly, why the fuck did Edge look like he spent the last 9 years in a dungeon with just scraps to eat? As predicted, I was extremely fucking nervous every time someone thought about touching him. And he was nowhere near ring shape

Like can you imagine how cool Cesaro winning the rumble and finally getting his due would've been? Or Rowan getting to challenge Bray where they build up whatever is in his box only to reveal it at WM and its some game changer that swings the match? Or Big E getting his own version of Kofi Mania?

Nope. Instead we get the same boring "hey at least its not Roman" choice we did it 2017.

What about Rowan’s career says he can hang with Brock? Nak I believe messed up and didn’t save himself when he was supposed to. That’s what I saw at least but also, whatever it didn’t bother me he got the boot quick either lol. Same with Cesaro, what about him within kayfabe says he can hang with Brock. All he does is lose lol

this, btw, was definitely the laziest kayfabe aspect they ran out there. Odd to use spot #30 to advance a 6-man tag on RAW

Rowans done just as much as Drew had... the two of them could've swapped roles and booked the rest of the rumble exactly the same and it would've made just as much sense just with a better person winning

If someone can't kayfabe hang with Brock 1-1 don't feed them to Brock 1-1

They could throw a couple of actually fodder like Elias at him in the first couple of spots. Then throw some beefy guys out there who can at least hold their own for a few minutes until the ring fills up. Then you have enough people in the ring to neutralize Brock's advantage. Its pretty simple booking. There is no need to feed so many singles guys to him.

The worst part is they successfully did this twice only to have Brock just undo it all.

Of course, Rey lasted 7 minutes against Brock just 2 months ago. And Kofi + Big E are far more help than Dominick. So, not like WWE is exactly following their internal kayfabe anyway.

Swap a few people (Riddle for Rey, Morrison + Miz instead of Kofi + Big E) and I think that opening goes cleaner. Riddle did jack shit anyway (lasted, what, 90 seconds before Corbin dumped him?), and him being the first person to last against Brock would have been fun. Miz + Morrison arent as credible as New Day, so them creating resistance but getting dumped fits. Nak is whatever, but again, maybe put Dolph there instead.

Its not lik there cant be a fuller ring and someone still be pretty dominant. Belair and Baszler both did it in the previous Rumble.

Anyways regardless of how much of a complete dumpster fire the men's rumble was Shotzi still gotta complete in the women's rumble and Bianca still kicked ass so that all was fun. I'll probably still decide to uncancel the network in the morning so I can watch takeover :seeno:

Im glad that resubscribing last night gets me two Takeovers and the Rumble. And I can cancel and see if the Elim Chamber card is worth watching.

I'd do like, Elias, Rowan, Riddle, Roode, MVP and Shelton each getting tossed one by one. Then do the Kofi/Rey/Big E stuff but don't have them all get eliminated but instead hang tough. Then have Lee come out and actually eliminate Brock.

That gives Brock a nice big streak to start, saves Cesaro and Nak from looking like frauds, gives Lee and even bigger push and means you've only wasted the first quarter of the rumble instead of half.

See, I think Drew eliminating Brock is the key. That part is the one part they got 100% right from the first half. And actually, it'd make McIntyre an even bigger deal if he;s the one who dumps Lee + Strowman as they fight near the ropes afterwards

Was trying to think of the right comparison, and I think the first half of tonights mens Rumble felt like Goldberg squashing KO at Fastlane. It was the obvious outcome, but, there were ways of doing it that are fun that don't bury everything that led to it. Especially when what was jettisoned was more entertaining than what came of that squash.

The problem is WWE needs stars, plural. Rumble is an opportunity to give multiple people big moments and they really didn't do that. Like who legitimately came away from the rumble looking better than they did going in, or looking like someone who a casual fan who wasn't familiar with any of these new guys should care about?

Its basically just Drew. Lee gets a bit of a bonus rub, but honestly he still got eliminated quickly and looked dumb for ignoring Brock. Brock was dominate but it wasn't like anything changed there. No one else actually elevated themselves at all. Even Riddle really just looked kinda

Compare that to the women's side... yeah Bianca and Shayna sorta stole the show but Bliss still looked good, Charlotte cemented her spot as the queen, and a lot of the other NXT stars didn't look like complete jokes. (That being said, it clearly wasn't without flaws. Tegan should've had Chelsea's moment, some of Shayna's eliminations should've gone to a few others to give them more moments while she still looks strong...)

It was very fun until after Brock got eliminated then it kicked back up toward the end
I think they are going to tell a good story here for once.
That was New Orleans. Dallas was Reigns finally beating HHH

I agree that some of the people that came in after Brock was gone should have replaced some of the ones he eliminated. Love how Kofi, Rey, Big E came in and had a small impact. Ok with their eliminations. It was worth it because it made Drew when he eliminated Brock. Especially after the way Brock sold it. And for the guys that got eliminated quickly, a good amount got at least a move or two in like Cesaro, Shinsuke. At least it was a rumble where it’s not inconceivable that someone as strong as Brock couldn’t toss them over the top. It’s not like he pinned all those guys in 6 seconds (sorry Kofi).

I hated the first half of the men’s Rumble as it was playing out but in hindsight, it was actually pretty smart. Building up Brock that way guaranteed a massive reaction to whoever eliminated him eventually and having it be the guy who eventually won the whole thing made it that much sweeter.

Also, just rewatched Edge’s return and I got chills all over again. Awesome fucking moment! (But fuck Kevin Dunn for fucking up his first spear by showing the crowd in that exact moment!)

Brock doesn't need to get built up anymore they've been building him for years now. Drew could've eliminated him six guys sooner and would've gotten the exact same pop

Instead we get stuck with a rumble where literally only four guys (maybe five if you count ricochet punching brock in the place where his balls used to be before the steroids destroyed them) did something that was at all memorable
