the n-word twitch stream happened October 2019 and from the surface it looks like he looked inward and resolved to be better. but yeah I don’t remember if there was any fall out with him and the locker room during that time

Yeah, which is great, and I'm certainly not mad about his change of heart on a lot of important issues, including BLM and Kap's protest. But yeah, "I love Randy" is maybe a tad too far for me to go. Like, damn, he really had to do the bare minimum to ascend to that spot? (And I mainly commented on this at all because it's the third time today a friend has brought up Randy's more recent wokeness and how great it is.)

 

Damn, time really is a construct, because that feels like last week. But as I mentioned in my previous post, I'm all for Randy growing and maturing and acknowledging how his past behavior has been problematic/hurtful/hateful. I also am inherently wary of celebrating someone for...beginning to be a good person? Especially an incredibly privileged white man.

I will always hate randy because the amount of people who say he is a dick rivals the amount of people who say JBL is. Randy sucks. N word stuff, forcing people to look at his dick and “shake his hand” and then shaming them as not respecting the older wrestlers or some shit.

Can I just say that @Drew Beringer i love how quickly you are able to be like “you right I fucked up”. It’s seriously admirable and I appreciate that about you and also for being a good sport when we all make fun of you

For the record, I think Drew's a good person whose presence in this thread makes it more enjoyable. And is someone I genuinely enjoy having these sort of conversations with.

im with Mick on not letting a few days of Orton being on this more progressive kick erase a history of uglier stuff. i will say that how direct Orton has been and the language he has used to articulate his thoughts feels pretty good. it feels to me like the words of someone that has taken some time to listen. the most reassuring thing is that if he had not said anything at all, there would have been no consequence and zero people would be surprised, but he did say it. to a fanbase that is loaded with people likely to take umbrage with it.

that said what he did as a person with a platform and a hugely diverse locker room is nothing more than what should be the bare minimum. its a bummer we have to cheer him on for doing it lol
