it only ever made sense for styles to win. they traded him over just to be in the tournament, he'd never won the title, and there needed to be a heel champ. plus they just had him lose last week, wasn't likely to lose twice in a row.

 

The worst part is that someone leaked that angle yesterday, probably in hopes WWE wouldnt run with it...it got horrible backlash...and they still went with it.

Just saw another story saying that Paul was relieved also because he didn’t push AJ and that AJ has issues with people backstage. Saw this on a Snapchat dirtsheet...dirtsnap?

 

I mean, dude spent a good chunk of last year hurt, then chasing and winning and holding the US title for like 3 months, with The OC getting a boost...and then feuded with the Undertaker heading into WM.

Unless there is an imaginary world where AJ was supposed to take the title off Brock last fall, there was no where else to push him

 

Styles is out the door in a couple years as per his own admission, and i don't see him being one of the dudes that breaks that and hangs around forever. he has done everything in a way no modern wrestler can ever touch. he has completely run ROH, TNA, NJPW and WWE at different times and seems content to chill with his family and stream on Mixer. nothing wrong with that, but why push him in that role?

Yeah I don’t really believe all that. My first thought was didn’t he get hurt. And I know he’s upset about gallows and anderson. I think he mentioned it on the after the bell podcast. The rest of his friends are on SD probably. And he main evented the first night of Wrestlemania. Take that CM punk

 

Probably the same reason he let Hall and Nash, shawns best buddies, go. Except those are way different circumstances. Just saying he’s probably gonna do whatever he wants to do regardless. I’m sure AJ is one of his favorites though

Its funny, I thought they used him pretty well. Feud with Ricochet to boost him; kind of the perfect guy for that weird Taker match. He was exactly what you'd want from a credible mid-card title heel.
