Super into a Sting v Taker match like that tbh. Let them both go out finally having the dream match.

 

Boneyard match was very interesting.

On the one hand, it was one of the most entertaining WM matches I've seen.

On the other hand, it felt like it had far more in common with a sequence from an action movie than a wrestling match. There wasn't a ton of wrestling moves involved. And compared the action movies the sequences were somewhat slow. But I think due to the good character work and build it all still marvelously worked (also the slow pace fit the Undertaker character). Yet at the same time, I feel like it only really scratched the surface of what a "Cinematic Wrestling Show" could really accomplish.

One part MCU. One part Lucha Underground. Seems like a recipe for $$$$

Absolutely. And as we know with LU, you can still trot out a more normal wrestling ring and matches and still have a cinematic universe that works to make the promo work more fun (or hide people who suck at 5+ minute in-ring promos).

WWE's probably the company best suited to do it too, since they have their entire production crew

 

I worry if WWE keeps a ring they'll keep one foot stuck in the past -- just look at The Fiend's entrances/funhouse stuff vs the Fiends actually matches. Even with the red lights and stuff, the actual wrestling matches tend to sap a bit of the Fiend's magic.

But at the same time, building unique sets would probably be prohibitively expensive, so might need to keep the ring. Just completely rethink how the matches are presented.

It might take a little while to get right. Afterall remember how poorly the house of horrors match went. But there is so much room for potential WWE would be fools not to experiment with it.

Funhouse match tonight should be really interesting. If they can pull off another cinematic match with a completely different mood from the boneyard match that still generates a ton of post show buzz hopefully that'll be enough to convince them they have something here.
