    Noobie

He's been catfished for several years.

I don't think the guy in the tweet shared the account (probably for the best) but apparently there's some really bad, "your pregnant wife better watch out" stuff

    Yikes

What was Seth saying to him last night? It's hard to make out

    No Fun. Not Ever.

How? How do people fall for this shit? I shouldn't be surprised though. Been in IT for years. People are fucking idiots.

  5. Seth called him “boy” and I’ve seen way too many tweets today of people calling him racist.

This is very true. Feel like I've heard him call everyone ''boy'' in his feuds so I thought maybe he was putting on his kayfabe voice or something.

Damn. Hopefully that's not the case with him then.

Let's get these people moving faster!

While I agree with that, and I obviously don't know the attacker's lived experience, I fear there's too little to work with here (aka so little said between them), to determine whether this context is that context.

*most* male wrestlers' response to someone trying to attack a fan is seen as a boy trying to be in a man's world. at first listen, i don't take it as racist. then again, i'm not black. so i won't be ignorant if others have the racist opinion of that remark.

Boy is racist? As a non-native speaker, how will i ever understand this language's nuances....

As a native speaker it’s not any easier! I literally did not ever know, hear of, or have any bad associations with the word “boy” until seeing it in this thread. Not saying it hasn’t been around awhile but like, I don’t know how anyone is supposed to know that or think that saying “boy” is a bad thing until someone brings it up, still seems strange to me, but again I don’t know the history(?) of the word and it’s usage in certain situations?

I also didn’t know that calling a person of color “a punk” was racist until talked about in the basketball thread a year or so ago and yet a very well known user of this site went on a typical rant and called a basketball player that is a POS a “punk” several times in several posts a few weeks ago but no one said a word so idk I can’t keep up with the history of words and phrases anymore.

Boy has many different connotations, racist and non-racist, but I definitely have heard of many times in a racist manner and it’s awful. I’d love to believe seth hasn’t said it in a terrible way but I want to make sure people remember he was dating an anti-Semite before so who knows, tbh.

"You Ain't from Around Here, Are Ya Boy?" is basically the cliche line every Southern White Cop or Southern Villian delivers in a movie/TV show/etc. Its a holdover from both slave times and the civil rights era where white people use it to show the inferiority of black people.

But hey, I just learned last week that "Gypped" is a reference to Gypsies and also kinda racist, because I dont think I've ever actually typed out that word before to realize it.

But yeah, for what I saw, Seth was clearly just jumping back into character and if he had some weird accent or something with his character, he'd have done that too. You can almost see him hit what switch once there are 2-3 security guards present and he knows he's safe.

I should have thought more about it before posting that.

I never put 2 and 2 together on ''gypped'' either because of that same reason.

Wow I never really knew any of that about boy before either.

I knew “gyp” and “gypped” but to be quite honest I thought they were Ireland/Europe centric in use. Never realised they made it across to the US.
