my friends and i are goin to record our 2021 in review episode soon, and this is our ballot for match of the year. we limited only one pick from these 5 categories: wwe (raw, sd), nxt (us/uk), aew, njpw, and 'other' (impact, mlw, roh, etc..). here's the list:

-ospreay vs sabre: new japan cup quarterfinals
-banks vs belair: sd womens title @ wrestlemania
-walter vs dragunov: nxt uk title @ takeover 36
-omega vs hangman: aew world title @ full gear

(matches dethroned from the list:
-ibushi vs white: iwgp title unification @ wrestlekingdom
-baker vs rosa: lights out match @ dynamite: st patrick's day slam
-young buck vs lucha bros: cage match for aew tag titles @ all out)

i know the list is subjective, but which of these four would you pick as match of the year, and what match that isn't listed would you pick?

 

part of it is that i was not only there live but my edible kicked in just as the match started, but nothing will top omega vs. danielson for me this year. baker/rosa is my no. 2

Holy shit, so good to see it all laid out; and enough of it was on TV that you didnt have to watch BTE, etc...but some of those bits are great. Makes me sad that Brodie passed, the "Fuck Hangman" chant part is great

I only started watching AEW regularly after the Brodie Lee tribute show...so all this FTR and breaking up the Elite stuff I only knew in passing
