I don't think MJF, that's too predictable. Dude is so young and AEW is jam packed with people who could have great title reigns.

Still feels like MJF isnt quite there yet booking wise. That Darby match was great, his mic work is great...but he also lost a feud to Jericho and isnt really facing anyone more than the mid-card. Hangman gets Danielson, a Black/Andrade/Cole feud through Revolution...and its not crazy to think that a CM Punk heel turn might be in the offing by that point

 

Honestly, smart business really...turning him heel out of nowhere was dumb if he's there long-term...but as someone with credibility to give Big E a victory and run some clock until the build to the Rumble, why waste someone signed longer term?

I'd be stunned if that was true; last press piece he did was talking about how Vince nixed his extended run in NXT back in 2019. Just havent seen him tweet or say anything positive about WWE in a while.

 

This may be too text book but I feel like the next person to win the main title should be another older torch holder to put over a more new and fresh star ultimately. Who knows, it's refreshing as fuck how many god damn possibilities there are.

Yeah, as I thought about like Punk->Jungle Boy, I also thought "well, Cole is an easy option". As would be hot-shotting KO to the belt. As would having Miro w/ Lana or Malakai w/ a stable be the guy to beat Hangman.

And even better, Hangman gets the TBS debut episode, a network special or two, Revolution, and possibly even DoN and beyond to be champion and it will feel bigger. Same way that Kenny having Grand Slam felt like a whole other PPV defense.
