It’s just nice to have a promotion that doesn’t fuck over the fans for shits and giggles

 

MJF/Darby, Punk/Kingston, FTR/Lucha Bros, Supercliq/JE and Omega/Hangman were all A+ matches in my book but I think you're right.

Bryan/Miro was also really good. And Conti/Britt and the other tag match certainly were still solid matches.

 

Everything about that ending was lovely. Hangman apologizing to the Bucks (and a little bit the threat that he'll ruin them...and they are hurting) leads to them giving him the nod. Kenny's out of answers. Hangman throws away the celebratory beer to hug The Dark Order.

 

Is the NJPW event tonight worth hunting down a link for?

And being the first non-WWE main event, its actually nice to see all the little elements of AEW using the former-WWE guys pay off. Moxley puts over Kenny early in his run. Brodie gives The Dark Order credibility (in part done via Cody as well), which makes them valuable to Hangman. He gains their friendship by beating up Matt Hardy. And most of the guys in the #1 contenders ladder match are former WWE guys...and Mox gets boo'd because the fans want Hangman.

Amazing what happens when a company puts together a cohesive narrative and uses everyone up and down the totem pole

It is seriously fascinating if you put AEW and WWE next to each other and compare everything. AEW is seriously better in every single conceivable way. Its a no contest.

I still feel WWE's women's division is stronger. But I think AEW is rapidly closing the gap there and in a year, likely won't even be able to say that. AEW is already stronger in the mid-card (as the booking of the TBS tournament vs the QOTR tournament easily shows). They just lack the Charlotte/Becky/Sasha star power at the top and WWE has actually made a bigger star with Bianca than AEW has with any of their women.

WWE is quickly undoing anything they had going for their womens division. I was going to reply to that same comment you did and then I realized I couldn’t make a legit argument. But AEW still has a long way to go with their womens division

 

Well, and were starting to approach the point where even WWE's baseline talent isnt better. Right now, they're obviously wasting all that talent, but they are overall stronger...and occasionally they get things right (see: The Man, Kofimania, etc) even if they have to fall backwards into them.

I mean, yes and no. WWE should be able to say that about Rhea, Bianca, Asuka, and a few others beyond the 4HW...but how long until Bianca is ruined like Asuka? She lost her title super quick. No Contest/DQ on her big matches with the 4HW. Becky's already moving on to another feud...how soon until she takes a pin from Liv or Zelina to boost their title feuds and the shine goes off her?

100% agree that AEW's womens midcard is way better, but, thats also precisely what hurts the top of WWE's division...no credible challengers beyond the same 3-4 repeats, and no way to build any credible challengers

 

Hence my point that in a year, AEW is probably better. Especially if Charlotte leaves. Their trajectory remains on the rise, where as WWE's continues to fall

But Bianca vs Sasha at WM is still easily the best women's match of the year. And even if they shit on the midcard booking, the top of the division still gets booked resaonably well (especially by WWE's standards)

 

I saw him at an ROH show and a dude screamed “Hangman Page you fucking suck” over and over. He’s come a long way lol

 

TK signs Jay Lethal when Keith Lee was right there man. Or Bronson Reed. Or Brody King. Literally tons of others without speaking out history attached.

 

Sounds like it was a great event.

 

I mean they've also let Darby stick around with zero acknowledgement of wrong doing, apology, or consequences of any kind. So shouldn't be too surprised.
