No wonder why it was an easy decision to go to AEW for Cole

"Well, he's a top star for our developmental brand, he's been a world champion, he's gotten over the few times we've featured him on TV, can talk his ass off, and has sold out arenas previously. I think we should get him to stay."
"Perfect. Let's change his name, make him a manager, and take away his video games."

    The level of brain worms...

I don't think a big shift in WWE a la the change to the Attitude Era is possible with both Vince and Kevin Dunn at the helm. They've been the top dogs for far too long, their ideas around creative and presentation are totally uninspired and out of touch, and it's clear that in many ways they have become complacent.

That is beyond the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard. They have absolutely ruined Keith Lee and it’s so sad that they can’t even see it.

shit thing is they've still got an absolutely amazing roster. if they nailed the booking and creative it would be extraordinary.

the adam cole thing is why I stopped watching NXT, I got sick of loving guys in NXT just for them to be whisked away because "they've done all they can in NXT" (which i think is a stupid notion in the first place) just for them to be a shadow of the wrestlers I loved on the main roster.

If WWE had a competent creative process that didn't completely flow through one single out of touch entity, they would be nearly untouchable with their current roster.

Its almost impossible not to think back to like 2017/2018, when they were still hot off the brand split, bringing back some of the old guys worked, and their ratings were actually increasing...and they were also trying to run edgier stuff...if they had allowed the NXT style to move to main roster, AEW might well not exist. Or best case it'd be another IMPACT.

Its hard not to think that if the NXT had main roster control, it would look a lot like what Dynamite does week to week

This is, without a doubt, the dumbest pitch Ive seen for anyone. Aside from making Cole a manager; and changing his name...the idea that he'd want to manage a guy who the company has already soured on once is just absurd.

There’s not a single thing they could do that would make a difference. It would take at least a year minimum of amazing writing and creative to even start to rebuild any goodwill they lost with fans.

This is very interesting because it's an NIL deal and he's basically just going to be sponsored by WWE for his last year of college then join WWE after graduation.

in other words WWE is officially real wrestling

  16. He’s gonna wrestle Roman 320 times next year since at this rate, Roman might be the only one left in the company.

Good signing though. Dude probably has astronomical potential

Probably been said and thought millions of times but the real salt in the wound for WWE is that many of the AEW stars they have were people they had in their company and if they had just handled properly none of this likely would have happened (or at least not became/becoming the major competitor that it is).

It’s not a bunch of people they didn’t think would be good or didn’t want to join them (although there are certainly some of those cases) or 7th round draft picks that turned into Hall of Famers because someone else took a chance on them, a major handful of major players in AEW were with WWE and left - and left for a variety of reasons at that.

It's just crazy that we've reached a point where people who's dream it was to work for WWE are now passing up lucrative WWE contracts.

People will keep leaving too if Vince doesn't give them the creative freedom that they need.

And they've doubled down on it by changing up NXT. Theres a bunch of guys (even Adam Cole included) that might have been happy staying in NXT for years that are now gonna bolster AEW's depth

This is why it feels like KO leaving is the next biggest deal after like, CM Punk returning. He debuted v Cena. His entire WWE:365 was about how he was living his childhood dream. Could have been such a huge turning point for the company that a guy without the traditional look was the face of things...and instead...

Every time I watched Adam Cole do anything out of character, I'm amazed that he plays a complete douchebag as well as he does. He just seems like one of the most thoughtful, genuine, kind people in the business.
