I've seen that Mark Andrew's band have tweeted saying that he won't be able to perform at their show in Bristol tonight due to "Uncontrollable circumstances". That pretty much confirms that something is happening on Smackdown I'd imagine?

I did watch Cody’s promo. The issue isn’t the promo, though. It’s Cody. If that promo had come out of Moxley or Page or hell, even Jake Hagar (phone corrected that to “Joke” haha), I’d could have bought into the hype. But its hard to get on board when Cody is so unlikeable. It also telegraphs the end of the match.

Haven't seen the Jericho hype package yet. But all I’ve seen of him recently is when the picture of the fascist in chiefs unwanted son and him pops up on social media and it makes me not want to see anything from him for a long time.

I’ll probably watch some of the PPV, but I’ll be fast forwarding to the end of main event just to see the result.

 

I saw this promo in-person (hooting dude on left in glasses and t-shirt right after he mentions his brother).

He has reached a new tier. The stip is concerning, but I am curious about the outcome.

They've hinted at Moxley/Omega going on last, yeah?

 

please respond to this with the exact way you believe it will finish. Curious to confirm if it actually telegraphs it or not.

 

I thought the promo was very good but not as good of the hype. Wonder if I would have thought differently if I saw it before I read all the hype. But yeah, I think it mostly has to do with it being Cody for me. But either way I’m still checking out the match

 

He either wins or gets screwed, leading to an excuse as to why the “I’ll never challenge for the title again” stipulation doesn’t count.

I mean, I may well be wrong and will happily be proven wrong.

 

I just don't think it's fair to say they telegraphed the ending and then guess that either one thing or maybe another thing will happen.

 

I wish Cody's wrestling weren't so boring.

 

I know that's kinda a gotcha and I'm not trying to be a dick, I just don't fully think it's 100% a fair criticism.

 

I've always been 100% story over work rate and I think Cody's work is absolutely sufficient...especially with his excellent mic skills, charisma, and overall mystique at this point. his matches have been my favorite on every 'ppv' so far.

but i realize some people like the work rate stuff more, which AEW definitely gives you too in the young bucks and lucha brothers type matches.

haha no i was actually gonna say the same thing. "its obvious...he's either going to win or get screwed and lose". huh? That's 2 way different outcomes. PLUS, i actually think and has always thought Jericho was 100% going to win. So idk why people think the ending is obvious

 

Yeah, this is the concern I ultimately have, which is that Jericho/Cody as a match could be a dud because neither guy is that exciting in the ring anymore. But, Cody also pulled it off with Dustin, and they've got a story to work with.

It either has to go on first on the pre-show, or go on last. Its an unsanctioned match; so it cant be mid-PPV. I suspect they'll run it just like they ran Ciampa/Gargano, where the PPV "ends" and then that match starts

 

Yeah, this is what JR said. that it'll go last after the PPV ends.

 

He could always challenge again if he goes full heel.

 

Cody/Jericho won't be a technical masterpiece that we are so spoiled with these days (I think the tag belt match will cover that for us) but they are both vets who know how to tell a fantastic story in the ring and I think that is what we will get. The crowd will be hot and they will do everything necessary to tell the story they want to, sometimes that's better than a bunch of flippy moves and false finishes.

 

Lol wait, it being unsanctioned means it can't be on in the middle?

 

It's weird to promote the match as unsanctioned and have it smack dab in the middle of all official matches. I know WWE has done it but oh well. Also JR said it's "after" the show.

 

Omega/Moxley will go on like they did for Moxley/Janela. The show will technically end and the lights will go out for a second and then the match'll happen.

Also, Cody could always lose the match, whether by pinfall or by the judges decision, then go heel and be like "haha, fuck ya'll, I'm going for it again"

 

It's interesting that they haven't announced who the judges are. Feels like that's a sign that something screwy's going to happen or they wouldn't bother adding that stipulation.

 

If gives them a chance to have some cool special guests like when they had Brett introduce the belt etc...
