WWE is losing money and ratings at the wrong time with AEW right around the corner

it makes sense that no one is tuning into weekly shows because there is no point. The only Raw and SDL you need to watch are usually the shows after a PPV and the go-home show and even that's a stretch. The same stuff happens week after week that all you need are the promo packages before the PPV match to completely know what has happened.

I really think FOX is worried they made a poor investment and I don't see SDL being on Fox for very long.

 

Dipping ratings aren't exactly a good thing for AEW either. The company doesn't have a deal yet, and this slump might show a decline in wrestling interest as a whole.

yes and no. The NBA and NHL playoffs are a convenient excuse. Sure, the numbers will be up once they finish, but the numbers shouldn't be nearly as bad as they are right now. WWE losing to football makes sense, but to have the worst Raw numbers of the year in April is nuts.

WWE has fallen into an old pattern. They don't need to deliver with meaningful matches, because there is no competition. You are going to see the same shit every week, because for the last fifteen years, the audience hasn't cared much. That is changing, and its going to dictate what happens going forward.

 

I definitely agree with what you're saying but I'd also like to see the dip compared to most years too so we could see how much of a difference it is.

 

I also dont see any way it survives on Fridays. The audience is older now...not a bunch of teens and college students who have fridays special because its not a school night. I know the odds Im around on a Friday to watch are way lower than a Mon/Tue

There would be some irony in that considering they wanted all the top women and poc on their show.

 

The problem is definitely how far down they are year to year. The last 4-5 years have been a sort of steady 10% drop year to year...and usually the time around WM would get a decent bump that would die out by the end of May. This year its down like 25% on average and they got no WM bump. This is the RAW after the RAW after WM form the last 4 years.

2016: 3.52 million
2017: 3.43 million
2018: 3.62 million
2019: 2.66 million

RAW last year drew 4 million viewers in the first two hours...couldnt even break 3 million this year. With no Cena, no Rousey, and no obvious star on the horizon, I think they're super screwed going forward.
