The story behind this feud is really intriguing. If you have a F4W account, the Pacific Rim podcast goes into detail about Suzuki and Liger's trajectories in the 80's/90's and why this is a big deal. Its just a great story. Truly great long term story telling.

Rumor is that Liger's match could be one of the main events of the Tokyo Dome shows. Either the blowoff of this feud or the traditional gauntlet match retiring Japanese wrestlers do.

 

Gauntlet match?

 

They'll have legends come out one by one and wrestle him. A lot of the people will have had meaningful feuds with him in the past. It'll probably be guys like Tiger Mask and whatever cruiserweights they can convince to come back for 5 minutes. It'd be really cool if they could get Marafuji in there for one. On the pod they mentioned how a lot of the guys they'd have liked to see him wrestle are dead (Eddie, Benoit, Dynamite) or too big for it (Jericho).

For real though when you have young kids and you’re on solo parent duty it’s impossible to set aside any sort of block of time. Everything is subject to change. Good on him for stepping back to support Beth and help with the kids. Probably been a rough year with losing his mom. I can’t imagine raising this kid without my parents and in-laws around.

This is really cool of AEW. WWE pulled a shit tonne of Southside originals (Joseph Connors, El Ligero, Kay Lee Ray) from their last ever show in a couple of weeks after advertising it for ages and AEW have come in with this. Really cool.
