it makes me really happy to see chuck get booked for roh/njpw after that crisis he was having a couple of years ago. 2018 will be the year of chuckie nxt or i'll complain about it

When I talked to Elgin, I asked him who he thought his tag partner would be and he was like, "Probably Tanahashi again..." He sounded so bummed by it. lol

 

Haha I'm glad it isn't, it was a smart move to keep the guys who already have a WK match out of the tag league this year.

 

This is my first year watching NJPW so just making sure, is World Tag League essentially the G1 Climax of the tag division? Winner of the tournament gets a tag title shot at WK or something along those lines?

Looking through the teams, I'm disappointed that Ishii is teaming with YTR again. The shtick of Yano being a goofball and running around for a while until Ishii inevitably comes in and beats the shit out of the opponents gets old after a while. Their tag title run was enough. Don't need to revisit it again. Let Ishii team up with another tough competitor.

 

I think they kept Ishii/Goto apart from one another this year because I think Ishii will be going for the NEVER title against Suzuki at WK.

 

New Japan going to Long Beach at the end of March is an odd call. Why not do a show on Wrestlemania weekend??

 

Probably because ROH always does that

 

yeah, i feel njpw would like to show they can draw on their own terms, the wm weekend tag-along is more fun when it's indies

 

Alvarez and Meltzer were making good points though, people aren't gonna travel for that if they have a giant WM trip planned a few weeks later.

 

I guarantee that show will still sell out

 

Hearing Alvarez and Meltzer talk about NJPW and then go right into Impact is hilarious.
