Turns out Domo was actually watching Wrestle Kingdom 10 last night. Only way the last page of this thread makes any fucking sense

 

These two great wrestlers were fighting an equal really snug wrestling match. In ring story. And in the end aj was able to stand tall.

Sure the match could have used a few now minutes but I don't think a match needs crazy spots and false finishes to be good

personally i thought the match was fairly decent, the pace seemed a bit off at times but everything else was fine. but im in agreement with most of you guys that it didn't live up to its full potential.

 

It's just this crap is why Vince does reigns lesnar cena every year. I'm sorry this is why I'm getting so frustrated.

Forget whether the match delivered or not... The crowd didn't care from the very beginning and that annoys me.

 

Right on cue, the promo for AJ vs Nak just came on during my rewatch of NXT. AJ promising it would be "nothing short of phenomenal." WWE promoting it as a dream match. If you honestly believe that the match ended up being nothing short of phenomenal, Domo, that's fine. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll never take another thing you post in this thread seriously again, but we all deserve happiness in our lives.

The crowd did fucking care, though. I was there in person as the crowd stood on it's feet through both intros, sang along to both. The first three minutes of the match had non-stop dueling AJ Styles/Nakamura chants. The crowd was there and ready for it and wanting to get into it, and instead we got a slow, plodding match with too many rest holds and breaks between sequences. We didn't need Ricochet vs Ospreay, but it was booked as if it was any other match on a random SmackDown.

 

Dueling chants for 2 minutes and the crowd gives up. Great. The crowd was on fire throughout reigns lesnar and that's why it goes on last and that's why it will go on last next year

 

Corey Graves saying "CALL THE COPS" after that Rousey hot tag was the best call of the night

The crowd didn't give a single shit about Lesnar or Reigns aside from booing Reigns during his entrance. The entire rest of the match was the crowd cheering for beach balls in the crowd and chanting "We want Nicholas," "This is awful," or "CM Punk."

Fans stopped chanting 2 minutes into the match because they didn't do anything to keep the crowd excited. Like I said, feel free to accept that or not. If you liked it, cool.

 

But it’s the time of year where they boo the people they like and cheer the people they hate...so that really means “fight forever”

 

But in vinces eyes he sees that as better than silence.

I thibk as an aj fan and as a guy who wants to see him remain champion...anyrime i get to see him in a match involving the wwe title on a big stage just makes me happy.

 

seriously I can't get over how great Rousey was last night in all aspects - she's gonna be a huge star

 

I don't know if I can muster the energy to rewatch all of Mania on the Network, but I heard Graves was on point throughout all of last night.

 

Yeah. But I legit don't see how spending a year building to Ronda vs. the Female Reigns is any better than Asuka and the streak. If anything, it's much worse.

The crowd was on fire for a beach ball, chanted this is awful and chanted for a little kid who got plucked from the crowd and went over tag champions. You're arguing for the sake of arguing. If you liked Nak/Styles, that's awesome and I'm happy for you. For the majority of the fans, however, it failed to live up to the hype that comes with two of the most beloved and over wrestlers in the company. It was Styles worst match in a very long time (ever?) with WWE. It was a weird style for the two guys to work for a match and was hindered by needing another 10 minutes to finish/flesh out the in ring story.

It felt, in my opinion, stilted, not cohesive, and just a poor representation of what we all know they can do as performers. And I say this as someone who doesn't understand the love for Nakamura at all.

In my opinion, the missing element of a match is the expectations. When you put Styles in a match with Jinder, it has to clear a lower bar to be a very entertaining match. When you put Styles in a match with Nakamura, it has a very high bar to clear for it to be a very entertaining match. Had either of them put that match on with a lesser opponent, it would've been fine. Since they put it on against each other, it falls short. Expectations of their talents, rushed story telling, and a lack of cohesion or anything interesting happening -- which doesn't mean it has to be shooting star presses off of ladders to be interesting -- ruined what, on paper, is a dream match.

 

Pretty much this. I’ve given up on Nak, he’s boring and his style just doesn’t work. He hasnt hit his 2nd gear since the night he debuted

 

Absolutely plan to rewatch the first half at least tonight. I gotta see those first two matches on TV. Will maybe do the second half in the next day or two
