Asuka/Charlotte is still MOTN, but that booking hurt it a lot.

 

Parts of the show were super fun, IC title was pretty great as well as Rousey and Bryan. Taker looked good and healthy. Jinder being on the main card and getting a win is a joke.

 

Asuka/Charlotte MOTN for me even with the awful booking decision, IC title probably second and maybe the rousey match third. CW was also quite good.

 

I think after tonight I am finally on board with WM being a 2 night, 3hr per night, show. I like the two brands, and the opportunities is gives everyone, but getting all of them on one show is insane. There's gotta be cuts, or a change to the Mania format

 

I wouldn't go two nights, just cut the card down into a two hour show.

 

IC was the MOTN, asuka/charlotte would have been it with a better ending. mixed tag was the biggest pleasant surprise of the night, it was never going to be the best worked match but it was damn fun. taker looking refreshed was nice to see and i'm actually down for another taker match or two which would have seemed crazy to me 24 hours ago.

 

Thank god for NXT.

 

Might get the travel package next year and sell my WM tickets, takeover should be dope at least.

 

Only issue with the Rousey match is that it was too long. Should've ended with the double submissions and trimmed a few other minutes off to get it under 15 mins.

Asuka losing really hurt though. And then Jinder going over Rusev completely deflated what was left of the crowd.

Later half (DBry onwards) was really hurt by the event being just too damn long. We'd already had sat through like four hours of wrestling at that point plus three the night before. Not sure how to fix the length problem, but they gotta do something.

 

Would you let Takeover still be its own show? Or just spread the NXT matches along the cards too and make it a Friday/Saturday/Sunday thing?

Either way, I agree with you it would be better. Gives you time to rest up. But I guess you also lose some of the WM pageantry. Idk. Other solution is to stop trying to give everyone a WM appearance.

 

Ideal scenario for me would be Takeover Thursday, HOF Friday, WM Sat/Sun. I really don't know how to change the format without straight up releasing half of the roster. I think a two day show could be at least worth a test one year, but man, they have the best problem in the world, but its so hard to figure it out.

 

A lot of fun to catch up on this thread after events knowing how things play out and seeing the live reactions.

Overall general thought was: this was a really entertaining but bizarrely booked event. A lot of highs and not really too many lows for me. I was pleasantly surprised by every match (except US Title match)

 

Yeah.

Hate to say it, but the real solution might be to just stop giving a shit about wrestlemania. Maybe next year I'll just watch takeover and the fallout from mania.

You might consider skipping HOF. Been to a few and they are almost as long as Mania itself. You can only listen to Mr T talk about his mama for so long
