It's pretty simple. NXT Takeovers always limit the match count to 5-6 and don't pigeon-toe 90% of the roster on to every single card. Makes the matches feel all that more important and actually gives them all the proper amount of time. No PPV match should ever last 8 minutes or less and we get 2-3 of those every single WWE PPV

 

NXT has HHH and Shawn Michaels booking and producing for the most part

right but like, WWE has to be aware by now that the NXT style of doing things produces better results than the WWE style? Or do they actually think the WWE PPVs are by some degree better?

The WWE product isn't produced with us in mind, whereas NXT is. Target Audience and the people that are in charge of NXT is why it's such a consistently good show.

Vince isn't as concerned with putting on a good WRESTLING show, because he has NXT to cater to the smarks.

If you took Roman/Jinder, BB v Club, Zayn v Lashley and Cass/D-Bry off the card and left them on normal TV where they belong, itd start looking a lot better. You'd tape some as dark matches for NXT TV next week.

Suddenly the MITB card is 6 matches, 4 worthy of 15+ minutes, and two there for potential story line builds (MITB cash-in and Carmella shenanigans). Which is about what the Smackdown cards had in 2016 when they worked...6 matches

 

But PPV's need to be 5 hours long

i dont care how much time you give them or how much fat you trim, the main roster matches/shows are fundamentally worse than nxt. the ring-work, the storytelling, the booking, the believability of what you're witnessing; they exist on two different planes. and the main roster has no excuse for that. the only thing they deal with that nxt does not is the risk of overexposure. beyond that, there's no structural disadvantage causing them to continually be outdone by their developmental brand. it's not as if nxt is super edgy or allowed to do a bunch of shit you can't see on raw or smackdown, their content is even more pg than the main roster. it should be seen as an indictment that 85-90% of guys fall off after getting called up and that there's only been maybe one example of somebody flourishing beyond what they achieved in nxt(elias).
