whoever put the first trailer for this together should be out of a job. a delight for the most part. it’s not up there with the paddington movies, but it’s got a similar feel that people can get lost in. chalamet is good in the title role, even if his singing is just alright. songs are hit or miss, too. feel like it largely nailed the risks dahl feel, even if i don’t love it as much as henry sugar wish there was more of oompa loompa hugh grant, cause he runs away with it in the limited time he’s on screen. only other issue i can think of is a few needless fat jokes with one character took me out of it at times but they’re not as bad as you might’ve heard. overall a successfully feel good time that’s better than it had any business being
Just a few weeks ago I had zero interest in seeing this but i've heard enough to sway me into probably going around Christmas week
yeah I've got tickets for Saturday, I'll probably like it and @imthegrimace will give me grief for it
I did not expect much out of this, especially from the awful trailers, but I found it absolutely delightful. Very charming, actually quite funny, and I for one loved the songs. I definitely got some big Paddington vibes as well.
Man I thought this kinda stunk. Some decent jokes here and there, Olivia Colman’s character and Hugh Grant as the Oompa Loompa was pretty good, but overall meh. Timotheeeee is not the most exciting singer, songs weren’t very good IMO
Just saw it. Better than I thought it would be but it was inconsistent. The person I saw it with did NOT like it haha. I think a 7/10 is just fine.
I hated the trailer, but the movie in the end was wonderful. Great heart, and just about every joke landed for me and it stuck to the fantastical and the silly the entire run time. I left with a big smile on my face. I thought all the songs were great and I usually hate musicals. SCRUB SCRUB.
