It’s so weird to see something for anything related to Willy Wonka not be bright and colorful. Also I feel like Chalamet crossed one foot over the line of wild crazy eyes to deeply unsettling eyes
Chalamet is great as a moody youth. He just cannot pull off a character who is genuinely, unironically happy and full of wonder like that. No line of his comes off sincere
The lil moments in the trailer when he was trying to be ~wEiRd~, I thought about how fun Emma Stone was in Cruella. Timmy C just did not understand the assignment, or perhaps just doesn’t have the teeth to chew scenery. Whatever the case, he seemed to tepid, lifelessly going through the motions. And, the dull world around him seemed similar obligatory. The only good moment in the trailer was someone sincerely discussing “chocolate cartels.”
Don’t hate the high budget xmas tentpole look for the Willy Wonka universe tbh but yea it bodes real poorly that that’s the best a trailer could do at showing Chalamet’s performance
I'm drinking that Hatorade but yeah this feels like the most Hollywood-on-autopilot project imaginable
