Only interested in this because of the perfection that is Paddington and Paddington 2. Hopefully the trailer shows the same visual flair that was apparent in those 2. I'll be on the lookout for it! Drop it here if you come across it first.

With how dark the original really was, seems like they want in the complete opposite direction to that and made something as bright and happy as possible

This may be the worst big budget studio trailer I've ever seen. His acting/that character is atrocious and everything about it just completely removes itself from what made the original great.

Twitter loves the trailer. Humans are baffling.

 

Timothee feels wildly miscast for this to me. His delivery of every line felt forced. He just is not a silly guy. He belongs on a miserable sand planet riding big worms.

 

Yes. The last little bit is too self-aware for something like this. I don't like it at all.

 

Wildly pessimistic takes in here. Considering it's from the director of Paddington, and the Deep version was panned for being too creepy, this is sort of the direction I was expecting with the over the top whimsicalness BUT, I do agree that the casting looks all wrong. I don't think it looks all that bad but it also doesn't look great.

 

I never expected to be like, "this looks good," but wow, it really looks like the worst possible version of itself.
